<\/p>\nThe Actor Awards \u2014 formerly the SAG Awards \u2014 got a facelift this year, one host Kristen Bell made sure to poke fun of as she kicked off the 32nd annual ceremony. <\/p>\n
\u201cNew name, same girl,\u201d Bell said as she took the stage. \u201cLike many people in this room can understand, we nipped the SAG and now it\u2019s just the Actor Awards.\u201d <\/p>\n
Bell played on the awards show\u2019s new name, focusing her opening monologue on adopted stage names, a common choice for actors seeking something \u201cthat rolls of the tongue with melodious ease,\u201d Bell said. <\/p>\n

The \u201cNobody Wants This\u201d star leaned into what worked for her last year: singing. During her performance, Bell trilled through possible name changes for actors. <\/p>\n
\u201cA stage name should be something fun \u2014 a name to ensure you\u2019re the only one,\u201d Bell quipped, before suggesting Jacob Elordi become Jacordi O\u2019Lordy. <\/p>\n
Sunday was Bell\u2019s third time taking the mic, after hosting in 2018 and 2025.<\/p>\n
The ceremony kicked off with a pre-recorded scene in which actors from \u201cAbbott Elementary\u201d quipped about nominees. Then, various actors, including Kristen Wiig, Teyana Taylor and \u201cSinners\u201d actor Delroy Lindo, all seated in the audience, shared moments from their careers. <\/p>\n
Lindo spoke about a \u201cchallenging career,\u201d one that he hoped would be \u201can encouraging example to all actors out there who may currently be facing their own challenges.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cI am Delroy Lindo, I\u2019m an actor and \u2014 never forget, all you aspiring thespians \u2014 you are too,\u201d Lindo said. <\/p>\n
Shortly after the first awards were announced, Bell introduced a table tennis tournament. Different actors would be playing head to head throughout the night, starting off with Ted Danson and \u201cNobody Wants This\u201d star Jackie Tohn. <\/p>\n
Bell previously said returning as a host \u201cwas an easy decision\u201d and promised that she\u2019ll \u201cbe doing what every actor does best \u2026 sing.\u201d The actor opened the 2025 ceremony<\/a> by singing \u201cDo You Want to Be an Actor?\u201d to the tune of her film \u201cFrozen\u2019s\u201d \u201cDo You Want to Build a Snowman?\u201d<\/p>\n Bell had said viewers shouldn\u2019t expect a roast or political jokes in her opening monologue. \u201cIt\u2019s not my vibe. It never has been. Mainly because I wouldn\u2019t do it well,\u201d she told Deadline<\/a> ahead of the ceremony.<\/p>\n \u201cThe world can use some levity right now, so we\u2019re going to keep things fun tonight,\u201d Bell said. Her monologue approach differed from other awards show hosts: Trevor Noah, who hosted the Grammys<\/a> in early February, was threatened with legal action<\/a> by President Trump over a joke he made connecting Trump to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
