The ski season isn\u2019t over and spring isn\u2019t here yet, we know. Even though our fingertips are still freezing in the little leather gloves that go with our outfits when we go out at night in Montreal, there\u2019s still a hint of spring in the air<\/a>. Not right away, but soon. <\/p>\n

In any case, the snow gets heavier every time the mercury rises above zero , and soon the mountains of Quebec will have to take a break while the ice turns to water and flows down the trails to the lakes and rivers. <\/p>\n

Spring Break is one of the last moments of winter when we can go hiking in the snow\u2014and we have the perfect trail just an hour and a half\u2019s drive from Montreal\u2026<\/p>\n

The Mont Echo hike<\/p>\n

Mont \u00c9cho is part of the Green Mountains Nature Reserve, which preserves and protects 78 km\u00b2 of the cross-border mountain corridor between Canada and the United States. <\/p>\n

The 12-kilometer (round trip) hike up Mont \u00c9cho is one of the most beautiful for its views of the mountains in the nature reserve. If you do the entire hike, the elevation gain is 585 meters, so we recommend crampons or snowshoes. <\/p>\n

We also recommend bringing your cameras because it\u2019s going to snow and the view is likely to be quite exceptional\u2026<\/p>\n

Practical Information<\/p>\n

Where? The Mont \u00c9cho trail is accessible from Chemin de la Falaise in Sutton (there is also a parking lot) \u2013 a 1.5-hour drive from Montreal.<\/p>\n

When? The end of the winter season is March 10, 2026.<\/p>\n

What? Daily access is $9\/person and can be purchased on the Sentiers de l\u2019Estrie website\u2014here!<\/a><\/p>\n
