Eric Dane\u2019s official cause of death has been released.<\/p>\n

He was 53.<\/p>\n \u201cWith heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS,\u201d his family told Page Six in a statement.<\/p>\n \u201cThroughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cEuphoria\u201d star (seen here in October 2025) passed away on Feb. 19. REUTERS<\/p>\n Before his death, the \u201cEuphoria\u201d star had been candid about his condition \u2014 \u201ca nervous system disease<\/a> that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord\u201d and results in a \u201closs of muscle control.\u201d<\/p>\n In June 2025, during an interview with \u201cGood Morning America,\u201d Dane revealed his symptoms <\/a>first manifested as weakness in his right hand. <\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t really think anything of it at the time,\u201d he said about his initial dismissal. \u201cI thought maybe I had been texting too much or my hand was fatigued. The two had\u00a0called off their divorce<\/a>\u00a0in March 2025 after initially splitting seven years prior.<\/p>\n The \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d star (photographed here in November 2025) was seen in a wheelchair that September.
