{"id":510367,"date":"2026-03-02T23:14:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-02T23:14:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/510367\/"},"modified":"2026-03-02T23:14:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T23:14:10","slug":"barrie-oil-painter-showcasing-art-in-toronto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/510367\/","title":{"rendered":"Barrie oil painter showcasing art in Toronto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A Barrie artist is getting ready to bring her creativity to the big city. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.francescaviscardi.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.francescaviscardi.ca\/\">Francesca Viscardi<\/a> is an oil painter and content creator, who\u2019s been selected to showcase her paintings at The Artist Project 2026, an exhibition showing 250 independent, contemporary and juried artists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Viscardi\u2019s specialty is using photos she\u2019s taken of spots around Simcoe County and turning them into whimsical, layered oil paintings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Not only is she an accomplished artist but she takes art lovers and fans on behind-the-scenes journeys of her creative process on her online community on TikTok and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@artfromfran\/videos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@artfromfran\/videos\">YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/UD3GULIKLRH7PDNUG6DFA7UWIY.png\"  width=\"800\" height=\"445\"\/>Oil painting Barrie artist Francesca Viscardi takes a brush to her oil painting of a woman. (Francesca Viscardi\/YouTube) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The theme for the exhibition this year is The Art of the Game, a nod to Toronto\u2019s role in becoming a global city of sport as it gets ready to host the FIFA World Cup later this summer. The artists\u2019 subject matter will be on sport and competition, exploring themes of athleticism, rivalry, teamwork, movement and emotional intensity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cCompetition exists at every level of the art world, from applying to a fair, to refining a practice, to standing out in a crowded field,\u201d says Mia Nielsen, Director of Artist Project. \u201cIn a year when Toronto is welcoming the world through sport, Artist Project embraces competition not just as subject matter, but as a reality artists navigate every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/FLSTTDPRK5FB3IFX4OSKEWCOAA.png\"  width=\"800\" height=\"442\"\/>Paint palette Barrie artist Francesca Viscardi shows her oil painting palette.
