Bruce Campbell<\/a> revealed Monday that he has been diagnosed with an incurable but \u201ctreatable\u201d cancer, sharing on social media that he is canceling future fan events to pursue treatment.<\/p>\n

\u201cTreatment needs and professional obligations don\u2019t always go hand-in-hand,\u201d the actor said in an X post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Campbell has long been known as something of a Comic-Con king, frequently attending various conventions to meet fans of his most iconic roles. The actor noted that he regretted having to cancel future appearances, but that he wants to spend the summer recuperating as much as possible, with the intent to travel with his new film, \u201cErnie & Emma\u201d (which he wrote and directed), in the fall.<\/p>\n

\u201cFear not,\u201d Campbell assured. \u201cI am a tough old son-of-a-bitch and I have great support, so I expect to be around awhile.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell is perhaps best known for his various collaborations with his longtime friend Sam Raimi. Growing up with Campbell, Raimi placed the actor at the center of his feature directorial debut, the low-budget horror sensation \u201cThe Evil Dead.\u201d<\/p>\n

The duo soon fleshed out an \u201cEvil Dead\u201d trilogy, with the actor later reprising his role as Ash Williams in the Starz series \u201cAsh vs Evil Dead.\u201d Campbell frequently cameos in Raimi\u2019s other projects, with the actor appearing in the \u201cSpider-Man\u201d trilogy, \u201cDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,\u201d \u201cOz the Great and Powerful\u201d and, most recently \u201cSend Help\u201d (though, this time only as a painting).<\/p>\n

On top of his appearances in various cult classics like \u201cManiac Cop\u201d and \u201cBubba Ho-Tep,\u201d as well as some notable television projects like \u201cHercules: The Legendary Journeys\u201d and \u201cXena: Warrior Princess.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs always, you\u2019re the greatest fans in the world,\u201d he said, \u201cand I hope to see you soon!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHi folks, these days, when someone is having a health issue, it\u2019s referred to as an \u2018opportunity,\u2019 so let\u2019s go with that \u2014 I\u2019m having one of those. It\u2019s also called a type of cancer that\u2019s \u2018treatable\u2019 not \u2018curable.\u2019 I apologize if that\u2019s a shock \u2014 it was to me too.<\/p>\n

The good news is, I\u2019m not gonna go into any more detail. I\u2019m posting this, because professionally, a few things will have to change \u2014 appearances and cons and work in general need to take a back seat to treatment.<\/p>\n

My plan is to get as well as I possibly can over the summer so that I can tour with my new movie \u2018Ernie & Emma\u2019 this fall.<\/p>\n

There are several cons this summer that I have to cancel. Big regrets on my part. Treatment needs and professional obligations don\u2019t always go hand-in-hand.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s about it. I\u2019m not trying [to] enlist sympathy \u2014 or advice \u2014 I just want to get ahead of this information in case false information gets out (which it will).<\/p>\n
