If you head over to the Kolf Maison website [HERE<\/a>], one of the first things you\u2019ll notice is the focus on exclusivity.\u00a0 They proudly promote the fact that they only make 4,000 of each golf bag, aiming for quality over quantity.\u00a0 I was initially a bit dismissive of this concept \u2013 it seemed like a gimmick, just a way to stand out in the overcrowded luxury golf bag market \u2013 but as I spent time with the Kolf Maison Paganica stand bag, I found that this could be a brand built to last.<\/p>\n

\nLooks<\/p>\n

In my golfing life, golf bags have gone from giant billboards to nearly-unbranded minimalism.\u00a0 The\u00a0Kolf Maison Paganica golf bag finds a middle ground: actually having style.\u00a0 Without resorting to flashy colors, the Paganica keeps your attention with lots of interesting details.\u00a0 Chief among them are the topographic-style graphics that run down either side of the bag\u2019s back.\u00a0 This is something that I could imagine many brands overdoing; here it\u2019s used just enough to make an impact.<\/p>\n

There is a lot of Kolf Maison branding around this bag, but it\u2019s generally small, executed very well, and done in interesting ways.\u00a0 Along the front of the bag, \u201cKolf Maison\u201d is done in very heavy embroidery.\u00a0 The branded zipper pulls feel rugged.\u00a0 Overall, the branding avoids being a billboard while still making it clear who designed this bag.<\/p>\n

The Kolf Maison Paganica stand bag is available in two colors: Blanc Prestige (white, seen here) and Obsidian Edge (black).<\/p>\n

While we\u2019re talking looks, it\u2019s worth mentioning that Kolf Maison offers a matching Paganica Head Cover Set.\u00a0 For $209, you get a six cover set: blade or mallet putter, driver, 3W, 5W, and two hybrids.\u00a0 The covers are well made, securing to the club and offering ample protection without a ton of bulk.\u00a0 In the world of nice head covers, six for $209 is a very solid price, if you like the style.<\/p>\n

The headcover set comes in a zippered shoe case.\u00a0 This is a really nice value add, whether you use it to store your covers or your kicks.<\/p>\n

If you want to go all-in on Kolf Maison, they also make the Majesta golf glove.\u00a0 It comes with three different colored ball markers and has a magnet to easily attach to your bag or cart.<\/p>\n

Features<\/p>\n

I have never unboxed a golf bag like the Kolf Maison Paganica.\u00a0 This bag comes with a truly impressive amount of stuff.\u00a0 The list includes: divot tool\/ball marker, matching rain hood, cart strap sleeve, two towels (with magnets), two carabiners, two strap systems (more on this in Performance), and a Player\u2019s Utility Sack (zippered pouch).<\/p>\n

Turning to the bag itself, it took very little time to realize that the Kolf Maison Paganica stand bag is much more than a pretty face.\u00a0 A lot of thought was put into every inch of this bag.\u00a0 Starting at the back, there are two pockets.\u00a0 The lower, zippered pocket can hold over 30 golf balls and has three interior organizers.\u00a0 The smaller pocket on top has a magnetic closure, a velvet lining, and an interior pouch.\u00a0 On either side of the ball pocket there are expandable drink holders big enough to hold a can of soda.<\/p>\n

The left side of the bag has a medium-sized, zippered pocket which is great for snacks, a training aid, or a bit of apparel.\u00a0 On top of that pocket is something I\u2019ve never seen before (in this position) \u2013 a magnetic rangefinder sleeve.\u00a0 While I like the magnetic rangefinder pouch on the back of a bag, this placement is much better for the walking golfer because it gives you access to your laser while the bag is on your back.<\/p>\n

At a glance, the right side of the Kolf Maison Paganica stand bag is fairly ordinary \u2013 a full length apparel pocket topped by two smaller, zippered pockets.\u00a0 When you get into these pockets, however, you find a wealth of interesting details.\u00a0 In the valuables pocket, there\u2019s an interior pouch for keeping smaller items organized.\u00a0 The pocket below has a divider that could serve to keeps gloves organized or to separate different types of tees.\u00a0 Within the apparel pocket, there are two small mesh pouches on either side of a zippered compartment.\u00a0 If you\u2019re not able to stay organized with the Paganica stand bag, the problem isn\u2019t the bag, it\u2019s you.<\/p>\n

If all of that isn\u2019t enough for you, there are more interesting features on the bag\u2019s exterior.\u00a0 Above you can see a locking carabiner on the bag\u2019s front.\u00a0 Kolf Maison states that you can use this any way you see fit, but it\u2019s meant for a speaker.\u00a0 On the bag\u2019s right, you\u2019ll find the most robust umbrella holder you\u2019re ever likely to encounter and another locking carabiner.\u00a0 Finally, on the bag\u2019s left, there\u2019s a D-ring tucked underneath the bag\u2019s serial number tag.<\/p>\n

Performance<\/p>\n

One thing that should be stated clearly before we go any further: the Kolf Maison Paganica stand bag is a stand bag not a walking or carry bag.\u00a0 Hopefully you already picked that up from the abundance of pockets and features, but I want to be explicit.\u00a0 Tipping the scales at almost eight pounds when empty, this is a great choice for the rider or pusher, not the walker.\u00a0 For those that don\u2019t want a stand, there is a Kolf Maison Paganica cart bag.<\/p>\n

This bag\u2019s stand mechanism is excellent.\u00a0 The legs are activated by a hinged base, which is more stable and durable than any system that uses a \u201cfoot.\u201d\u00a0 When the bag is loaded, it takes an easy but intentional push to kick the legs out, and the legs snap back with purpose as the bag tilts upright.<\/p>\n

The Kolf Maison Paganica stand bag also comes with two strap systems: a traditional single strap (above) and a set of backpack straps.\u00a0 Given that I won\u2019t be carrying this for 18 holes, I prefer the heavily padded single strap.\u00a0 There\u2019s also a modest amount of padding on the side of the bag to make a backpack or right shoulder carry more comfortable.\u00a0 Changing between systems is very easy thanks to four push button clips.<\/p>\n

An area where you really feel the Kolf Maison Paganica stand bag\u2019s premium appeal is the handles.\u00a0 There is a handle along the spine (above), one on the top, and a handle built in below the ball pocket.\u00a0 The handles are well-placed and make moving the bag easy.\u00a0 What elevates them is that they\u2019re padded and wrapped in the same composite leather as the bag.\u00a0 Getting this soft, pleasant sensation when you pick up the Paganica is one of the many little things that separates this bag from its competitors.<\/p>\n

Finally, there are two different tops offered on the Kolf Maison Paganica stand bag.\u00a0 Above, you can see the 7-way top, and there\u2019s also a 14-way top which has a 3-4-4-1 layout, from bottom to top.\u00a0 I enjoyed the 7-way top, a design I think we don\u2019t see enough.\u00a0 The dividers are not all full-length, but the top is large enough that getting clubs in and out was relatively easy, even when it was fully loaded.<\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/p>\n

In a world full of golf bags that are nothing more than Vessel copies [Player V review HERE<\/a>], the Kolf Maison Paganica golf bag stands out.\u00a0 This is a thoughtfully designed bag made with premium materials and a genuine sense of style.\u00a0 For the golfer that values organization and storage in their stand bag, this is one of the best there is.<\/p>\n
