CHARLOTTE \u2014\u00a0Charlotte Women’s Tennis made program history Tuesday, reaching No. 26 in the latest ITA Team Rankings to set a new program high-water mark.<\/p>\n
The 49ers’ previous high was No. 30 in back-to-back weeks during the 2022-23 season.<\/p>\n
“We’re very proud of reaching our highest ranking in program history; it’s a testament to this group and all the other special people who have come through our program in recent years,” head coach Anthony Davison<\/a> said. “We have known this group has the skill to do great things, but they have been pairing that with the right on and off-court work, which has shone through in recent big moments.<\/p>\n “It’s still early in the season, rankings change, and there are many challenges to come – this is a great benchmark of what’s possible, but there is still a lot more work to be done.”
\nNi Xi’s<\/a> partnership with Sara Suchankova<\/a> climbed to No. 24 in the ITA Doubles Rankings, though the duo has also risen as high as a program-record No. 16 this spring.<\/p>\n The milestone comes during Charlotte’s 9-3 start to the season, which includes a win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday to improve to 4-1 in neutral-site matches. The 49ers also carry a 4-0 home record, highlighted by a 4-2 win over then-No. 66 Maryland for their first victory over a ranked opponent this season.
