Sean “Diddy” Combs’<\/a> prison release date<\/a> has been moved up.<\/p>\n

The disgraced music mogul<\/a>, who was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution in 2025, is set to be freed on April 25, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ website. The 56-year-old<\/a>, who is\u00a0behind bars at New Jersey’s FCI Fort Dix<\/a>, was previously slated for a June 8, 2028. Inmates’ anticipated release dates often fluctuate, and good behavior and time served can reduce prison sentences.<\/p>\n

Combs is serving<\/a> a 50-month sentence\u00a0for his conviction<\/a>, after being acquitted on the more serious charges, sex trafficking and racketeering, in a summer federal sex-crimes trial. Prosecutors were seeking an 11-year sentence for Combs<\/a>, while his legal team asked the judge for 14 months behind bars.<\/p>\n

USA TODAY has reached out to Combs’ lawyer for comment.<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0letter to the judge ahead of his original sentencing<\/a>, Combs said he got sober “for the first time in 25 years,” has been attending therapy and started a mentorship program for his fellow inmates.<\/p>\n

His lawyers\u00a0appealed his conviction<\/a> in December<\/a>, asking a federal appeals court to overturn the decision and facilitate his immediate release. His conviction<\/a> centers on the transportation of two former girlfriends \u2013\u00a0Casandra “Cassie” Ventura Fine<\/a>\u00a0and the anonymous “Jane” \u2013 as well as sex workers for the intent of prostitution.<\/p>\n

Major moments from the trial included Fine, Combs’ former girlfriend, a recording artist, providing emotional testimony about his alleged abuse and rapper\u00a0Kid Cudi<\/a>, who was once romantically involved with her, alleging the music mogul broke into his home.<\/p>\n

Combs, who has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct, is still\u00a0facing upwards of 70 civil lawsuits<\/a>\u00a0across the country.<\/p>\n
