Police are searching for the driver of an Acura sedan who drove the wrong way down a busy highway to escape from officers in Brampton.<\/p>\n

The incident started around 1 a.m. on Feb. 15 while officers were working an impaired driving checkstop at the northbound Highway 410 off-ramp onto Valleywood Boulevard in Caledon, the OPP says.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when officers spotted a driver turn around to avoid the checkstop before fleeing southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 410.<\/p>\n

The driver then exited onto Mayfield Road, heading westbound in the eastbound lanes, and ran multiple red traffic lights while making a getaway.<\/p>\n

The driver was last seen travelling southbound on Hurontario Street from Mayfield Road in Brampton, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.<\/p>\n

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a grey, older-model Acura sedan with black rims and no front licence plate. Investigators are urging the driver and any passengers to come forward and speak with police.<\/p>\n
