A 37-year-old male has been charged following a string of armed robberies involving taxi drivers in Downtown Winnipeg.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) responded to three armed robberies between February 17 and March 1, 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A taxi driver was robbed by a male suspect near the intersection of Agnes Street and Sargent Avenue on February 17, 2026. The suspect was armed with a firearm.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A few days later on February 21, a taxi driver was\u00a0robbed of personal property and their taxi cab was stolen by a male suspect armed with a firearm near the intersection of Agnes Street and Sargent Avenue.<\/p>\n
On March 1, in the 500 block of Sargent Avenue, a\u00a0taxi driver was robbed by a male suspect armed with a firearm.<\/p>\n
No injuries were reported in any of the above cases.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigations and has identified a suspect believed to be involved in all three robberies.<\/p>\n
A 37-year-old male\u00a0has been charged with three counts of Robbery, three counts of Possession of a Weapon, and three counts of Use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence. He was detained in custody.<\/p>\n
