{"id":512903,"date":"2026-03-04T03:14:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T03:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/512903\/"},"modified":"2026-03-04T03:14:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T03:14:08","slug":"surrey-will-host-free-public-watch-parties-for-fifa-matches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/512903\/","title":{"rendered":"Surrey will host free public watch parties for FIFA matches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With 100 days to go until the FIFA World Cup arrives in Vancouver, the City of Surrey announced on Tuesday that it will organize live public screenings of the matches this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke says that these screenings will be free and take place at Surrey Civic Plaza, the Cloverdale Fairgrounds, and South Surrey Athletic Park.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach site will feature large screen live match broadcasts, food trucks, live entertainment, and community LED soccer activities,\u201d Locke said.<\/p>\n<p>The fan zone in Cloverdale will be indoors, while the other two venues are going to feature tents, providing shade for seating areas.<\/p>\n<p>She adds that Surrey is a \u201csoccer city\u201d and these fan zones are a celebration of the city\u2019s love of the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFans can come to Surrey Civic Plaza for an extra special celebration to cheer Canada on and kick off the World Cup in true Surrey style.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On June 12, Team Canada will play its first match in Toronto.
