<\/p>\nRegion of Peel \u2013 Officers from the 22 Division Community Intervention and Response Team (CIRT) have arrested and charged an 18-year-old male from Brampton after a traffic stop for careless driving led to the seizure of a loaded, unauthorized firearm. <\/p>\n
On Friday, Feb. 27, CIRT officers were on patrol in the area Kennedy Road and Clarence Road in Brampton when they observed a vehicle speeding and making unsafe lane changes.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Upon stopping the vehicle, officers conducted a search of the driver under the Cannabis Control Act and found a loaded Glock 17 handgun and magazine with 17 rounds of ammunition.<\/p>\n
As a result, Malachi King-Favours has been arrested and charged with the following offences:<\/p>\n
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
\nCarrying concealed weapon
\nOccupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
\nPossession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
\nKnowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
\nPossession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
\nCareless Driving<\/p>\n
King-Favours was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.<\/p>\n
