{"id":514524,"date":"2026-03-04T21:21:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T21:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/514524\/"},"modified":"2026-03-04T21:21:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T21:21:11","slug":"martin-lewis-warns-check-this-now-or-your-ex-could-get-your-pension-lifestyle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/514524\/","title":{"rendered":"Martin Lewis warns: Check this now or your ex could get your pension | Lifestyle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/martin-lewis\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Lewis<\/a> has warned people to make an important check to ensure they don&#8217;t leave their pension to their ex partner.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the Martin Lewis Money Show on Tuesday (3 March), the finance guru explained how most private or workplace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/pensions\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pensions<\/a> sit outside of your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/will\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">will<\/a> and it is the pension provider or the scheme\u2019s trustees who decide where the money goes.<\/p>\n<p>He explained: \u201cYou can tell them what you would like to happen on a form that is called an expression of interest or nomination form. You often do it when you first sign up to the pension, but you might not remember.
