\u201cI want to thank Tyler for his time here in Vancouver.\u00a0He\u2019s\u00a0a great person and has been a good hockey player for us,\u201d said Allvin. \u201cTyler had a full no-move [clause in his contract]. So, at the end of the day, I respected it. The conversations that I had with Tyler were that this was something that might happen, and I made him aware about a week ago, and at the end of the day, he signed off on this trade this morning.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Allvin said that the trade offer came his way this morning while he was driving across the Burrard Street Bridge. He said that the team\u00a0retaining\u00a0$1.5\u00a0million\u00a0of cap space helped bring the return of a second and fourth round pick.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The GM went on to discuss the upcoming trade deadline and said it is hard to say whether the market will heat up before Friday\u2019s noon PST deadline.\u00a0The team has already brought in young players who have shown great\u00a0characteristics\u00a0and work hard\u00a0in\u00a0practice. These young players\u00a0have a chance to grow in the organization as leaders, but Allvin knows\u00a0there\u2019s\u00a0still work to do and will continue to bring in players to help improve the club.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s important for the future that we surround the young players with some leadership, and also continue to build,\u201d said Allvin about his team\u2019s vision looking into next season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Allvin closed out the\u00a0media\u00a0availability with what he wants to see from his group in the final 22 games of the season.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to see more\u00a0fight\u00a0in the group.\u00a0I think Adam\u00a0pointed\u00a0[it out]\u00a0in the [Dallas] game, and in the game against San Jose. I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0see the fight and urgency,\u201d said Allvin.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0their job, the players\u2019 job, and our job to prepare every night for the fans and [be] playing for the crest.\u00a0You can lose games, but you\u2019ve got to play the right way, and you\u2019ve got to compete.\u00a0And\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0what I want to see from my group here moving forward. And I want to see us getting better [in] areas of our game, the details of our games that I want to see improvement in. Losing games is not great for anyone, and we owe it to the fans here that [have] been great in Vancouver and our players should play hard every night.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Canucks are in action Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. PT against the Carolina Hurricanes.
