{"id":514835,"date":"2026-03-05T00:37:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T00:37:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/514835\/"},"modified":"2026-03-05T00:37:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T00:37:10","slug":"retailers-now-fined-100-for-shopping-carts-abandoned-in-brampton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/514835\/","title":{"rendered":"Retailers now fined $100 for shopping carts abandoned in Brampton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Changes to city bylaws will see stores fined $100 for every one of their shopping carts found abandoned in Brampton.<\/p>\n<p>The fine was introduced late last month during the city\u2019s budget approval process as a way to recover costs from city staff collecting and returning the derelict carts.<\/p>\n<p>Between 400 and 500 abandoned carts are reportedly recovered every year in Brampton, and retailers will be charged when abandoned carts are found on sidewalks, in parks, or anywhere on city property.<\/p>\n<p>They may soon also be required to install locks or use anti-theft systems to keep carts on store property.
