The Unitree G1 humanoid robot is a seriously impressive bit of tech<\/a> that can run, jump, and even step into the ring and box like a pro.<\/p>\n

Supercar Blondie\u2019s Sergi Galiano visited Unitree Robotics<\/a> in China to get a closer look at its humanoid robots.<\/p>\n

The next-generation bots are able to carry out a huge range of tasks and have far more flexibility than a human.<\/p>\n

This makes them extremely agile, and a fairly fierce opponent in the ring \u2013 as you can see in the video above.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Unitree G1 humanoid robot put in an impressive performance in the ring <\/p>\n

There\u2019s no question that humanoid robots are more competent than ever, but even amongst advanced bots Unitree\u2019s G1 stands out<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

G1 uses a combination of a depth camera and 3D LiDAR to \u2018see\u2019 the world and has an impressive 43 degrees of joint freedom including seven in its hands alone.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The bot is a lightweight 77lbs and has a battery life of around two hours.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unitree has shared footage showcasing the robots impressive skills, and last summer invited Sergi out to China to see the robot in action.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After spending some time checking out what G1 was capable of, he ended up agreeing to take on the bot in a boxing match.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Heading into the fight, Sergi was feeling confident given that he had a height advantage over the 4ft 2in bot.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But in the ring, G1\u2019s smaller stature had Sergi very concerned about being hit under the belt.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The cute-looking bot got some solid body shots in before landing one final punch that left poor Sergi tumbling to the ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The G1 humanoid bot was declared the winner and celebrated its victory over its human opponent. <\/p>\n

Despite his loss, Sergi was impressed with G1 and how the tech might be implemented in the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was cool, maybe in the future as this develops, you can spar with a robot,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Robot Vs Robot boxing is already a thing in China <\/p>\n

And it turns out that Sergi\u2019s robot sparring idea isn\u2019t a million miles away from reality. <\/p>\n

Back in June, the first-ever boxing competition<\/a> between bots took place.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The China Media Group (CMG) World Robot Competition \u2013 Mecha Fighting Series saw humanoid robots duke it out in the ring, while a human referee watched on.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Unitree G1 was among the bots taking part in the event, and much like when it took on Sergi, it didn\u2019t pull any punches.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But there was more to the event than brute force, the bots also had to use their agilty coordination, and their ability to get back on their feet at lightning speed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
