{"id":515873,"date":"2026-03-05T11:40:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T11:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/515873\/"},"modified":"2026-03-05T11:40:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T11:40:08","slug":"brampton-man-crowned-dealer-technician-champ-in-las-vegas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/515873\/","title":{"rendered":"Brampton man crowned dealer technician champ in Las Vegas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsandstar.co.uk\/local-news\/brampton-news\/?ref=au\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Brampton;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Brampton<\/a> technician has been crowned the winner of an international skills competition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Tom March triumphed at Caterpillar\u2019s first-ever Global Dealer Technician Challenge, taking the title in a competition that drew thousands of entries from around the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He was one of only 10 finalists to reach the grand finale, held in Las Vegas on March 3 during CONEXPO-CON\/AGG, the largest construction trade show in North America.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Mr March said: &#8220;Massive amount of pride.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We&#8217;ve put a lot of work into training and working up to this moment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;There&#8217;s a lot of people behind me that have backed me, who have helped push me along when I&#8217;ve had moments of doubt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;But all the hard work has paid off.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Organised to highlight the role of dealer technicians, the competition tested practical, hands-on skills through stations focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and customer experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Competitors were challenged to identify the root cause of real\u2011world issues, diagnose repairs, and communicate solutions to customers, all under incredibly tight time constraints.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Henry Venneman, vice president of global service at Caterpillar, said: &#8220;These trained experts are on the front line of support, working to keep machines and engines up and running to help ensure our customers\u2019 critical projects are completed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The competition was designed to both celebrate top technicians and serve to raise awareness about the growing demand for skilled workers in the industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">By the end of 2028, it is estimated that Cat dealers may need to hire more than 38,000 technicians.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The challenge was designed to highlight a high-tech, high-impact and high-demand career.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Brampton technician has been crowned the winner of an international skills competition.
