Every year, dozens of NHL players find new homes at the trade deadline.<\/p>\n
But the Tyler Myers situation was unique.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not often that we see a player with a no-movement clause get presented with a trade, and then sit out for a week to figure out what\u2019s next.<\/p>\n
Myers has now spoken about the bizarre situation that eventually saw him land with the Stars.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, a little bit of a weird situation,\u201d Myers said during his media availability with the Stars.<\/a> \u201cI\u2019d be lying if I didn\u2019t say it was pretty strange, but it\u2019s just how things played out.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cGiven the situation we were in, with the no-move and everything, it gave us that opportunity to take a little time.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt gave us a chance to say goodbye to some guys, which I know some guys don\u2019t get that opportunity, so that was nice,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Myers even joked with Sportsnet\u2019s Iain MacIntyre<\/a> that his Canucks teammates were giving him a hard time about the long, drawn-out saga.<\/p>\n \u201cThe guys were like, \u2018You still here?’\u201d Myers told MacIntyre.<\/p>\n It certainly was a little unorthodox, as we\u2019re seeing a trend of more players with no-trade and no-movement clauses being presented with trades to consider.<\/p>\n Sometimes, there\u2019s a decision to waive, as we saw with Calgary Flames defenceman MacKenzie Weegar<\/a>. Other times, players take their time before invoking their no-move clause, which is what happened on Thursday with St. Louis Blues defenceman Colton Parayko<\/a>.<\/p>\n For Myers, however, the prevailing thought based on reports was that, even though Detroit made the first offer, Myers didn\u2019t want to go there.<\/p>\n \u201cI know there were a lot of reports out there that I wasn\u2019t willing to waive to go there, but that just wasn\u2019t true,\u201d he told Don Taylor and Rick Dhaliwal on Donnie and Dhali<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cDetroit was a very solid option, too.\u201d<\/p>\n Myers also revealed that the Stars weren\u2019t the only team on his radar.<\/p>\n \u201cWe stuck to the plan of being patient, letting it play out to see what options were out there. And obviously, three or four teams were a preference for us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cDallas was one of them,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen we found out that they had some mutual interest, we pushed hard to get it done.\u201d<\/p>\n However, Myers made sure to reiterate that Dallas wasn\u2019t the only option.<\/p>\n \u201cIt really wasn\u2019t just about Dallas,\u201d Myers said on Donnie and Dhali. \u201cWe just wanted to know what was going to be available so we could assess the city, how it is for family, the kids, kind of schools\u2026 we really just wanted to take the time.\u201d<\/p>\n Aside from Detroit and Dallas, the Colorado Avalanche and the Anaheim Ducks were the other teams with reported interest<\/a>.<\/p>\n
