An 18-year-old Mississauga man faces attempted murder and numerous other charges after shots were fired at a Newmarket home twice within a week, on one occasion injuring a person who was inside a parked car.<\/p>\n

York Regional Police made the arrest on Wednesday in connection with the shootings, which took place last Oct. 16 and Oct. 23 and targeted a home in the Hewitt Circle\/Plantation Gate area of Newmarket, about 55 kilometres north of Toronto.<\/p>\n

According to investigators, the second shooting occurred at around 4:40 a.m. when \u201cmultiple rounds\u201d were fired toward the home and vehicles parked in the driveway.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne victim inside a parked vehicle was struck by gunfire and was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries,\u201d police said in a news release on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The first incident unfolded a week earlier at around 1 a.m., police said, adding shots fired on that occasion struck and damaged two vehicles parked in a driveway as well as the garage and front door of the home.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe home was occupied at the time, however no physical injuries were reported,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n

Subsequent investigation by police led to this week\u2019s arrest after search warrants were executed at homes in Mississauga and Brampton. Police said a firearm and high-capacity magazines, and a quantity of a controlled substance, were also recovered during the searches.<\/p>\n

Jason Tulloch, 18, of Mississauga, faces more than 20 charges including attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, discharge a firearm in a reckless manner (two counts), possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, use of firearm during commission of an indictable offence and possession of a controlled substance.<\/p>\n
