{"id":517105,"date":"2026-03-06T01:20:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T01:20:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/517105\/"},"modified":"2026-03-06T01:20:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T01:20:12","slug":"how-lily-kongs-series-sweet-escape-reignited-her-intuitive-approach-to-illustration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/517105\/","title":{"rendered":"How Lily Kong\u2019s series Sweet Escape reignited her intuitive approach to illustration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-block-key=\"qnu3j\">At the mid-point of 2024, illustrator and graphic designer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/lilykongyuet\/?hl=en\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Lily Kong<\/a> made a conscious decision to slow down \u2013 to rekindle parts of her practice that were more intuitive and iterative. She began to revisit drawing as a tool to mark personal memories and interpret her innermost feelings, and from this came her series Sweet Escape. Unlike client projects, where you travel from point A to point B and \u201cmake sure everything is made efficiently\u201d, Lily says, the project is a body of fragmented works that the illustrator slowly developed by drawing inspiration from landscapes she had seen, and dreamt of.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"309li\">Whilst much of Lily\u2019s past work lent on storytelling, \u201cexploring emotion and drama through characters, movement and setting\u201d, she shares, this series felt different. It was a way to focus on something that felt lighter and it \u201csimply made room for joy\u201d.
