We’re playing baseball again \u2013 college baseball is back roaring and the prep players still in high school are amped up as the weather warms around the country. With that, it’s time for an updated look at the country’s top-200 prospects, authored by our Draft HQ<\/a> team. Below, you’ll find the Prep Baseball 2026 Draft Board, Version 3.0.<\/p>\n + View our Top-200 Draft Board here<\/a>, or at the bottom of this page. + The biggest news of the early spring season came when the No. 1-ranked player in the 2027 class, LHP Jared Grindlinger<\/a> (Huntington Beach HS, CA), announced that he would be jumping up a class and entering his name into the MLB Draft. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Prep Baseball All-American boosts an already star-studded crop of southpaws that could potentially see, now, five selected in the first round. Featuring a mid-90s fastball and sharp feel for quality secondary stuff, Grindlinger brings an exciting upside on the mound that is amplified by his athleticism as a position player. Still uncommitted, college wise, the industry will get plenty of looks at the talented left-hander the rest of the spring as his Huntington Beach team will play in a plethora of primetime games.<\/p>\n + The steady climb and sleeper status of SS James Clark<\/a> (St. John Bosco HS, CA) can no longer be hidden as the ultra-talented, 6-foot-1, 195-pound shortstop continues to leave no doubt as to his status as a premier position player in the class. A consummate performer whose swing decisions and pitch recognition from the left side stand out as advanced, he is sure-handed, and the helium that has risen since last June still carries a path to a top-10 selection in July.<\/p>\n + OF Eric Booth Jr.<\/a> (Oak Grove HS, MS) was a sleeper first-rounder coming out of the summer, but has asserted himself as a must-have talent for MLB clubs thanks to an enticing upside of athleticism that pairs well next to a polished hitting approach. The plus-runner who routinely barrels triple-digit exit velocities, Booth is a sneaky top-10 pick whose continued spring success will only serve to mitigate risk. His chief competition as the top high school outfielder stands to be OF Blake Bowen<\/a> (JSerra Catholic HS, CA) who has only gotten better with each look. Always an athletic outlier with impressive impact and acceleration at 6-foot-2, 215-pounds, his ability to polish the hit-tool, especially with contact rates, is what has boosted his stock into strong first round potential.<\/p>\n + RHP Coleman Borthwick<\/a> (South Walton HS, FL) has separated himself as the premier right-hander in the class thanks to explosive stuff, incessant strike-throwing ability, and of course, his massive 6-foot-6, 245-pound frame. Both RHP Cole Koeninger<\/a> (Keller HS, TX) and RHP Kaden Waechter<\/a> (Jesuit HS, FL) also hold intrinsic top end value and should see a steady rise throughout the spring. But there are only so many picks in the first round, and with this year\u2019s crop of prep right-handers, clubs further down the board are likely to be salivating over the talent pool. The separation from ranks Nos. 4 through 40 amongst the group does not feel all that significant, and even if a large number sign contracts in July, it feels almost a certainty that college baseball will be receiving an influx of elite arms next year.<\/p>\n + Outside of SS Roch Cholowsky<\/a> (UCLA) being the presumptive first overall pick, this draft feels like it is still, very much, in flux. There are a number of different directions that clubs can go in, and the buzz from different pockets of the country is likely to come in waves as the season rolls on. Constant evaluations and affirmations will need to be made right up until draft night from each scouting department.<\/p>\n STOCK UP, TOP-100 \ud83d\udcc8<\/p>\n 1. 3B Ace Reese (Mississippi State) OVERALL NEWCOMERS \u2728<\/p>\n #21 LHP Jared Grindlinger (Huntington Beach HS, CA) SUPER 60 LIFT-OFF \ud83d\ude80<\/p>\n The 24th annual Prep Baseball Super 60<\/a>, held in Chicago on Feb. 1, once again served as a jumping off point for some of the top prep prospects in the country. This first look for the MLB scouting community coming out of a newly mandated \u201cdead period\u201d presented a look at a bevy of must-know prospects.<\/p>\n
Last year\u2019s group of prep shortstops who secured seven-figure bonuses pushed clubs to the table, eager to identify and distinguish the talent at one of the most coveted position profiles in this year\u2019s draft. This year, the depth has not shown to be as bountiful, but there are clearly gems to be acquired. Marchand, building off a strong summer campaign, asserted himself as a must-follow coming out of the Super 60 thanks mainly the significant increase of power displayed in Chicago. Stronger at an athletic 6-foot-2, 200-pounds, the soft-handed, bat-to-ball\/swing decision specialist climbed a tier after his performance, and could challenge as a Top 50 pick with a productive spring.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A sleeper helium candidate coming out of the fall, the 6-foot-1, 187-pounder turned in a stellar all around performance in Chicago. Stacking the stat sheet with impressive metrics, Battista began the day with a 6.53 time in the 60-yard dash (1.58 10-yard split) with an ease to stride before belting out perhaps the best batting practice rounds of the day. The left-handed hitter sets up in a balanced, athletic stance with the hands effortlessly separating to a power position from a minor leg hang stride. Compact throughout the pursuit, the bat speed stood out nearly as much as the impactful exit velocities. Belting balls up to 108.5 mph EV while controlling the forward move gracefully, he also flashed sneaky present power that included a max distance of 413 feet, per TrackMan. Innate tight turns and a low-maintenance look should excite the industry throughout the spring, and Battista has set himself up for strong Day One consideration.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Prep Baseball All-American checked all the boxes of a spring helium prospect with his performance in Chicago at the 24th annual Super 60. With what appeared to be 10 pounds of added muscle, the 6-foot-5, 235-pound right-hander displayed a true workhorse frame including tree trunk legs with room to develop even further. Hopping on the mound with a low-pulse intensity to the session, the big right-hander sat 92-94 mph (2,481 rpm max) from an ultra low slot while exhibiting ride and run on a fastball that will almost certainly tick up as the spring warms up. Less pinpoint than in previous looks, it provided an opportunity for scouts in attendance to hone in on the fierce tunnel-vision expectancy of success that the competitive Grulkowski carries on the mound. The delivery is clean and repeatable with quality use of that strong lower-half in gliding strong down the mound while allowing a loose, continuous arm to work with ease. His secondary offerings, both the firmer slider at 81-82 mph (2,917 rpm max) and slightly more depth driven curveball, 77-78 (2,833 rpm max), demonstrated his innate ability for spin, and promised a future wipeout pitch in the making. Still more, Grulkowski tossed in a power changeup, 85-86, that seemed to mirror the fastball but with perhaps slightly more sink late. In total, Grulkowski continued to ride the helium of the summer and early fall, and this look provided an avenue for jumping into a near tier one position.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The barrel-chested Texan turned in an explosive bullpen at the Super 60 with the chance to miss and break bats in the future. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder who missed part of the summer, averaged 95.8 mph on a fastball that peaked at a record-tying 97.7 mph with vicious sink and arm side life. Still more, he ripped off sharp sliders at 79-83 mph (2,543 rpm max), countering the fastball with near saucer-effect, and showcasing the makings of an even bigger sweeper to come. Previous looks have had the slider in an even better spot, and should this one be the baseline, it already garners above average status. Looking to create distinct shapes, Brown also flashed feel for a shorter cutter at 87-90 mph and a heavier changeup at 85-87 mph (1,331 rpm avg.). Working entirely out of the stretch, Brown coiled and uncoiled athletically while riding the backside down the mound and getting quality extension from a true \u00be slot. Although the power stuff will obviously generate whiffs out of any bullpen, Brown\u2019s athleticism and movement patterns provided plenty of starter intrigue, and a full spring of posting will ultimately have the industry honing in on the upside of the two-way Texan.<\/p>\n
Measuring in at 6-foot-3, 205-pounds, White\u2019s in-person presence felt much bigger with strong, wide shoulders and longer legs that should continue adding strength in a hurry. Remaining compact throughout a repeatable delivery, White stacked well with a high coil before driving impressively strong down the mound in finding a higher \u00be slot that allowed for a 93-94-plus mph fastball to drive through the zone at over 2,579 rpm with quality extension and some late arm side life. His breaking ball, which featured near 2\/8 shape, 78-81 mph (2,764 rpm max), is sure to garner swings-and-misses throughout the spring with out-pitch upside in the long-term. He spun the pitch tightly, and it countered the fastball well. Killing spin on the changeup (1,871 rpm avg.), it was a clear third pitch, but one that will be useful in helping his case as a future starter. In short, it was a strong performance from the southpaw who missed much of the summer, but looks poised for a big spring.<\/p>\n
While only 5-foot-10, 177-pounds, Galason\u2019s presence on the diamond is much larger, and he kicked off his \u201826 campaign with a polished performance in Chicago. The 6.53-runner demonstrated innate barrel accuracy, routinely working gap-to-gap with a low-maintence look throughout batting practice. Setting up square in an athletic crouch with the hands held below the back shoulder, he rocked back with a knee knock stride before quickly igniting the barrel through the zone with noticeable lag. His shorter arms serve as an advantage and his ability to stay connected stood out next to quality metrics (102 mph max exit, 96.3 mph avg, 373 ft. max distance). A noticeably more advanced look was seen throughout infield drills including a stronger, 87 mph arm across with confident hands. He profiles best as an offensive second baseman, but the workout look would warrant some glances at shortstop, as well. Mirroring the look of current Florida State freshman, Jon Stuetzer, a year ago, Galason has a chance to push himself up boards with a strong spring in Georgia.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Barker displayed one of the more athletic skillsets at the event while also promising much more to come. A wiry, 6-foot-2, 175-pounder, he gracefully strode to a 6.46 60-yard dash time (1.58 10-yard split) before showcasing a loose-wristed swing from the left side. The hands set just below the back shoulder rising slightly in pursuit to a power spot before pulling through on a slightly uphill path. The barrel delivered a max exit velocity of 102.9 with a max distance of 395 feet. Coming off a spring that saw a more than 2:1 BB:K ratio, an uptick in power production may drive even greater value to his prospect profile. Moving with smooth, fluid actions at shortstop, Barker\u2019s cool confidence should provide the opportunity as a versatile infield defender, but the 6.40-speed might ultimately warrant a more premium look in center field.<\/p>\n
Offing\u2019s tools and upside stood out at the Super 60 as he posted a 6.68 60-yard dash time, 108.5 mph max exit velocity, and moved around well throughout the infield portion. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound shortstop is on the younger end (age-18.2 at draft) and presented some right-handed impact potential at the plate throughout the workout. Since then, his projectable bat has shown up in early season game play which has only served to amplify the look at the Super 60.<\/p>\n
TEXAS HEAT \ud83d\udd25<\/p>\n The routine advancements and jumps that the spring season provides for prep pitching in the Lone Star State wasted no time showing itself with the ascension of four marquee arms.<\/p>\n + RHP Cooper Harris<\/a> (Flower Mound HS, TX) Harris\u2019 silky smooth delivery and polished arsenal combined with a youthful (age-18.1 at draft) look hold intrinsic value, and his performances early on have helped to catapult his stock.<\/p>\n (Cooper Harris; 2\/26\/26)<\/p>\n Sims, and his triple-digit fastball, was one of the more intriguing upside arms with a long, 6-foot-8 frame. The advancement of his secondary offerings, along with the effortless heat, has elevated his status with regards to the draft. Nawrocki, a true two-way candidate who can also swing it from the left side, brought plenty of electricity to the summer circuit thanks to an upper-90s fastball and vicious secondary including a slider north of 3,000 rpm. His ability to find the strike zone more consistently has made an impact in the early season with Day One form. Finally, Jorgensen, an outstanding athlete in his own right, has been up to 98 mph with advanced feel for spin including both a curveball and slider, the former ripping off at more than 3,000 rpm.
