\n\tYesterday, Donald Trump<\/a> fired Department of Homeland Security Secretary\u00a0Kristi Noem<\/a>\u2014much to the delight of late-night hosts. Noem\u2019s departure<\/a> had the jokes rolling in, with several hosts proposing possible punishments for Noem, who has faced several weeks of public scrutiny, personal scandal, and bad press. <\/p>\n

\n\tOn The Late Show<\/a>, Stephen Colbert<\/a> could not contain his glee. \u201cLet\u2019s talk about Kristi Noem getting fired!\u201d he said as he opened his monologue. \u201cIt\u2019s too soon to know why Kristi Noem is gone,\u201d he noted. \u201cBefore we find out any more information about what happened I just want to say with absolute certainty: She is a domestic terrorist who deserves to go to Gitmo.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added, \u201cI\u2019m sorry, I\u2019m being told that\u2019s not true. But you know what, I acted on the information we had at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tColbert recounted how Trump announced the news on social media, as usual. \u201cThe current Secretary, Kristi Noem, who has served us well, and has had numerous and spectacular results (especially on the Border!), will be moving to be Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, our new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere we are announcing on Saturday in Doral, Florida,\u201d the president wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSounds like someone\u2019s about to become the new FIFA Secretary of Homeland Security,\u201d Colbert quipped. \u201cWell, at least Noem can fall back on all her other jobs: cowboy, soldier, and village crone who tells you exactly when you\u2019ll die.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tJimmy Kimmel<\/a> was similarly pleased on Jimmy Kimmel Live. \u201cI think I speak for all of us when I say we wish Kristi luck in her brand new, completely made up job,\u201d Kimmel said. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTrump was said to be particularly unhappy with Noem\u2019s testimony claiming that he signed off on a $220 million ad campaign that featured her in commercials wearing different outfits, rounding up immigrants, and riding a horse,\u201d Kimmel explained. \u201cTrump said he didn\u2019t know anything about it even though we all knew everything about it. You know him. He doesn\u2019t watch much television.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn The Tonight Show<\/a>, Jimmy Fallon<\/a> announced the news to huge cheers from the audience. \u201cYou never know with Trump, he either thinks she\u2019s bad at her job or he wants her to be the new supreme leader of Iran,\u201d Fallon said. \u201cNoem is the first cabinet secretary Trump has fired since returning to office. \n\tOn The Daily Show<\/a>, Michael Kosta jokingly exclaimed, \u201cNow that she\u2019s gone the Trump administration is going to be great!\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tNoem\u2019s dissmissal comes after she was\u00a0berated by lawmakers<\/a>\u00a0on Capitol Hill over a series of disastrous blunders by her department, including the killings of two American citizens by border patrol agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and apparent attempts by DHS to stifle investigations into the shootings. Noem has also been under fire for extravagant spending at the department, while placing restrictions on FEMA disaster relief funds.<\/p>\n

\n\tNoem was also grilled by lawmakers about her alleged affair with temporary government employee and former Trump Campaign Manager Corey Lewandowski.
