{"id":518370,"date":"2026-03-06T15:13:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T15:13:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/518370\/"},"modified":"2026-03-06T15:13:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T15:13:09","slug":"toronto-man-charged-in-alleged-2-5m-investment-scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/518370\/","title":{"rendered":"Toronto man charged in alleged $2.5M investment scam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>York Regional Police (YRP) say a Toronto man has been charged in connection with an alleged multi\u2011million\u2011dollar investment scam.<\/p>\n<p>The force\u2019s Financial Crimes Unit launched the investigation in March 2025 after a victim reported losing money in what police describe as an investment fraud. <\/p>\n<p>According to investigators, the victim invested funds in\u00a0February 2024\u00a0through a man who owned a company called\u00a0Equity Line Service Corporation,\u00a0who promised a return that never materialized.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities learned in February 2025 that five more people had also invested money with the same individual.
