\n\tJimmy Fallon<\/a> appeared on The Late Show<\/a> last night, making his debut appearance on the show. The Tonight Show host chatted with Stephen Colbert<\/a> about their long-time friendship and memories over the years before Fallon performed a musical number in celebration of Colbert. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe serenade paid tribute to Colbert\u2019s work on The Late Show, which will come to an end<\/a> on May 21. The lyrics were sung to the tune of \u201cMy Way\u201d and saw Fallon commenting on Donald Trump\u2019s involvement in the conclusion of the show. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd now the end is near<\/a>,\u201d Fallon crooned as the lights dimmed. \u201cAnd so you face the final curtain\/ But Trump, he made it clear\/ He wants you gone\/ Of that we\u2019re certain\/ You\u2019ve been a gracious host\/ We\u2019ve loved you since the old Report days\/ And more\/ Much more than this\/ You did it your way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cCBS, they said you\u2019re through\/ And now it\u2019s down to just to two Jimmys\/ But wait, before you go\/ Can I please have one of your Emmys?\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tAt the end of the song, the duo climbed on Colbert\u2019s desk and embraced. \u201cI\u2019ll see you in the locker room,\u201d Colbert told Fallon. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tLast year, CBS announced that it planned end its late-night talk show, hosted by Colbert for over a decade, amid financial issues at the network. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire\u00a0The Late Show\u00a0franchise at that time. We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late-night television,\u201d CBS wrote in a statement. \u201cThis is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show\u2019s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tColbert addressed the decision on his show, noting, \u201cI\u2019m not being replaced. This is all just going away. I do want to say that the folks of CBS have been great partners.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tColbert started hosting\u00a0The Late Show in 2015,\u00a0taking the baton<\/a>\u00a0from David Letterman after hosting the news satire show\u00a0The Colbert Report\u00a0on Comedy Central.
