{"id":518557,"date":"2026-03-06T17:18:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T17:18:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/518557\/"},"modified":"2026-03-06T17:18:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T17:18:13","slug":"toronto-gas-prices-going-up-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/518557\/","title":{"rendered":"Toronto gas prices going up again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The price of gas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/toronto\/article\/gas-prices-in-toronto-are-expected-to-go-up-again-heres-by-how-much\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/toronto\/article\/gas-prices-in-toronto-are-expected-to-go-up-again-heres-by-how-much\/\">shot up another two cents overnight<\/a>, but one energy analyst says the price isn\u2019t done climbing as the conflict in the Middle East continues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, predicted Friday that the cost of gas in the city, currently sitting at around $1.48\/l, will go up by seven cents on Saturday, followed by another three cents on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cPut this in perspective\u2026that would make a 21-cent increase week over week, at least since Tuesday,\u201d McTeague told Newstalk 1010 in an interview. The price of a litre of diesel, which McTeague has described as a \u201cglobal workhorse\u201d due to its use in heavy-duty trucks and the like, has increased by 45 cents\/l over the same period of time, he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201c(It\u2019s) becoming less and less affordable by the moment,\u201d McTeague said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The price of a barrel of Brent crude, the international standard, has jumped from around US$70 late last week <a href=\"https:\/\/tradingeconomics.com\/commodity\/brent-crude-oil\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/tradingeconomics.com\/commodity\/brent-crude-oil\">to around $90 on Friday <\/a>following the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/world\/article\/trump-says-irans-supreme-leader-is-dead\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/world\/article\/trump-says-irans-supreme-leader-is-dead\/\"> U.S. military operation in Iran over the weekend<\/a>.
