If you’ve ever dreamed of lacing up and taking to the ice on a real NHL rink, this could be your month, as Rogers is offering the public a rare opportunity to skate on the same ice as their heroes at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena during March Break.<\/p>\n
Rogers will open up three NHL arenas to the public this month, including the home ice of the Toronto Maple Leafs, as part of its first-ever Screen Break Unplug and Play events, giving local youth the chance to live out their on-ice dreams.<\/p>\n
Announced on Friday in conjunction with the Global Day of Unplugging, the event is designed to give the younger crowd a chance to put down their phones and take in real experiences.<\/p>\n
“Our Unplug and Play events encourage Canadian teens and tweens to put their devices down and help build a balanced relationship with their screens,” said Sarah Zupnik, Rogers Screen Break Program Director.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“As March Break brings more free time, and more screen time, we’re giving youth a different option \u2013 skating in an NHL arena with their hockey heroes. This is the first of many opportunities Rogers will create to offer healthy screen alternatives.”<\/p>\n
The Scotiabank Arena public skate, taking place on March 19, is happening alongside Leafs Fan Day<\/a>, which will transform the venue into a celebration of all things blue and white. Fans attending the skate will have a chance to meet players and alumni from the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Sceptres.<\/p>\n
