On Friday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> are playing the Indiana Pacers<\/a> (at home).<\/p>\n

The Lakers are without LeBron James<\/a> and Deandre Ayton<\/a>, so Luka Doncic<\/a> has to carry a bigger load during the contest.<\/p>\n

He got off to an incredible start with 22 points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal while shooting 7\/9 from the field and 5\/5 from three-point range in his first 12 minutes of playing time.<\/p>\n

In addition to his strong performance, Doncic also made NBA<\/a> history.<\/p>\n

ESPN\u2019s Dave McMenamin wrote:<\/a> \u201cWith Luka Doncic\u2019s 22 points in the 1st quarter tonight, he\u2019s scored 20+ points in the 1st Q five times this season, the most by any player in a season since play-by-play was first tracked in 1996-97 (via @StatsWilliams)\u201d<\/p>\n

Doncic came into play with averages of 32.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.6 assists and 1.4 steals per contest while shooting 47.3% from the field and 35.8% from three-point range in 50 games.<\/p>\n

He is in his eighth NBA season (and second with the Lakers).<\/p>\n

Doncic helped the Lakers finish as the third seed in the Western Conference last season.<\/p>\n

That said, they lost to Anthony Edwards<\/a> and the Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a> in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs (in five games).<\/p>\n

Right now, Los Angeles is the sixth seed with 37-25 record in 62 games.<\/p>\n

Doncic will have to be careful and not get another technical foul on Friday.<\/p>\n
