I am 30 years old, and I hail from Ebonyi State. I proudly represent where I come from because my background shaped my hunger, my resilience, and my mindset. Everything I am today started from humble beginnings.

How did your journey into fitness start?

I have always been passionate about being fit and healthy. For me, fitness is not something I picked up because it was trending. It’s a lifestyle I cultivated for myself over the years. Growing up, I understood that strength gives you confidence and discipline. There wasn’t one dramatic moment that pushed me into training. It was a gradual process of self-development. I wanted to be stronger, healthier, and mentally tougher. Over time, that desire became my daily routine, and eventually, it became my profession.

Do you have formal education or certification in fitness, nutrition, or personal training?

I have gained knowledge through self-study and experience. I am always learning and improving my skills. The fitness industry evolves constantly, and if you don’t evolve with it, you become outdated. I study, research, observe, and test. Practical experience has been my biggest teacher. When you’ve trained for over a decade, you understand your body and the science behind strength differently.

How long have you been working in fitness full-time?

Twelve years. That’s more than a decade of consistency. Twelve years of waking up early, training, pushing limits, and building my brand step by step. It hasn’t been easy, but consistency is what separates serious professionals from temporary trends.

Many fitness creators compete by showcasing extreme transformations. Where do you see your niche?

My style and transformations are unique and undefeatable. I am the first of my kind. Strength is real. I focus on raw power and functional strength. Anybody can pose for a picture, but not everybody can bend iron. My brand is built on real strength. That’s what makes me stand out. I don’t try to copy anyone. I’m in my own lane.

What makes you different from other fitness influencers?

It’s very simple. It’s a lifestyle, experience, and platforms. I am rapidly evolving, unlearning, and relearning. I’m just a work in progress. I don’t claim to know everything. Every level comes with new understanding. I’m building platforms beyond just lifting weights. I’m building a movement around strength and self-belief.

Have you ever faced negative feedback about your physique or training advice?

Yes, on several occasions, especially from competitors. In this industry, not everybody will clap for you. Some people feel threatened when they see someone rising. But honestly, I’m unbothered by negative feedback. I stay focused on my craft and strive to become a better version of myself daily. Criticism can either distract you or refine you. I choose refinement.

When IShowSpeed tried to bend the iron but couldn’t, did you feel any pressure performing in front of him?

Not at all. There was no pressure. It’s just a matter of training and time. Anybody can bend the iron if they believe they can and put in the work. I was super excited performing with IShowSpeed. He’s a great guy. For me, it was fun. It was about showing what years of discipline can produce.

Did you use any secret techniques to bend the iron that the audience didn’t see?

My strength is my superpower. There’s no magic. There’s no trick. It’s years of consistent training, pain tolerance, mental focus, and belief in myself.

Can you share a moment when you felt misunderstood or judged by the fitness community?

I can barely recall any major moment. People appreciate what I know and what I represent. Of course, there have been slight controversies about being nicknamed “the strongest man in Nigeria”. But it’s all good. I’m enjoying the experience. When you stand out, people will talk. That’s normal.

Some people say fitness influencers pretend to be confident online but struggle privately. Where do you really feel your insecurities most?

Struggles are part of the game. Once you start trending online, people expect more from you. Some people assume I make so much money just because I’m viral. Those kinds of perceptions can create pressure and insecurity because expectations increase. But you grow into it. You adapt and stay focused.

Do you think your lifestyle makes it harder to maintain long-term relationships?

Not at all. I’m rebranding to improve my craft, and that expansion will inspire long-term business relationships with several brands. We’re currently working on partnerships with reputable organisations. Something big is coming. My lifestyle actually attracts disciplined and focused people.

Has someone ever tried to use you or your brand for personal gain?

No. We have standard operating procedures for partnerships and collaborations. It’s mandatory to go through these processes before engaging me. Structure protects the brand. When you build something valuable, you must protect it with professionalism.

Do you ever feel pressure to maintain a certain look for social media, even if it’s exhausting?

I’m just myself. I don’t want to give any false impression or fake lifestyle. I have a professional brand to protect. What you see is what you get. I don’t stage a life that isn’t real. Authenticity lasts longer than hype.

Do you feel judged more for your appearance than your skills as a fitness influencer?

I really don’t know because most judgments happen behind closed doors. But from the records so far, so good. My fans can feel my strength and power. The results speak louder than opinions.

In one video, IShowSpeed said he wanted to make you happy by giving you money. Some people felt you were greedy for not accepting the amount he offered. What do you say to that?

People are entitled to their opinions. It’s their fundamental right, especially when your hustle is tied to the public space. You should be ready to hear funny things about yourself. But that should not define who you are. I’m grateful for the support shown to me by IShowSpeed. Money is not everything. Relationship matters to me. Exposure matters. Platforms matter.

The phrase “my strength is too much” was reportedly started by another fitness enthusiast and social media personality. Some people feel you encroached on his copyright. What’s your response to that?

My strength is my superpower. “I’m angry” is my own unique slogan. I’m not copyrighting or competing with anyone. Jack Manuel has no type. I am focused on my journey. There’s space for everyone to shine.

IShowSpeed said he wants to bring you to the United States to train his brother. What’s going on with that?

It’s a gradual process. IShowSpeed is a man of his word. I believe he will do something about that. Opportunities like that don’t happen overnight. We are building connections step by step.

Do you think asking for money publicly reinforced negative stereotypes about Nigerians?

I understand the nuance. Public appeals can be misunderstood. For me, it was about transparency and rallying support for something impactful. Nigerians are multifaceted people. We are hardworking, creative, and resilient. Let’s focus on the positive work being done instead of magnifying one interpretation.

Did you eventually get paid for the stunt?

No. But money is not everything. The experience was amazing. I am very optimistic that with the right platforms we have created, money will come. Sometimes, exposure is an investment.

Did the viral moment increase your bookings, or cost you opportunities?

The viral moment drastically increased my bookings and exposed me to numerous opportunities. I am still swimming on top of my game. Sometimes, one moment can shift your entire career.

Some say you “hijacked” the moment with IShowSpeed to chase clout. Was that the intention?

Honestly, the collaboration was about having fun and pushing boundaries. I knew it would create a buzz, but my focus was on the challenge and entertainment value. If people see it as clout-chasing, that’s their perspective. I am about building connections and creating memorable content.

If Speed returns to Nigeria, would you collaborate again?

Definitely. This time, we’re changing the narrative to inspire more people. Every collaboration should uplift and motivate.

Do you ever snack after telling clients to avoid junk food?

My word is my bond. Discipline is discipline. If I preach it, I practise it.

Are you stricter in the gym or in real life?

I am a very friendly person. I am not strict, but I have boundaries like every normal human being should. Strength doesn’t mean being harsh. It means being disciplined, focused, and respectful.

My strength is my superpower. It’s not just about bending iron. It’s about bending limitations, breaking stereotypes, and pushing past doubts. That’s who I am.

Fitness enthusiast and social media personality, Jack Manuel, popularly known as Jack Manuel Fitness, tells ANJOLA DAWODU about…

[37
5733,49,48,407,28169,20884,48603,205384,84,22261,205385,205386,205387,205388,18218,130981,1776,106234
0":"post-520501","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-fitness","8":"tag-bodybuilder","9":"tag-ca","10":"tag-canada","11":"tag-fitness","12":"tag-fitness-influencer","13":"tag-fitness-journey","14":"tag-fitness-motivation","15":"tag-functional-strength","16":"tag-health","17":"tag-ishowspeed","18":"tag-jack-manuel","19":"tag-nigerian-fitness","20":"tag-nigerian-fitness-influencer","21":"tag-okoro-ogbonna","22":"tag-personal-training","23":"tag-social-media-personality","24":"tag-strength-training","25":"tag-viral-moment
["GET
