Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight rivals Max Holloway vs. Charles Oliveira<\/a> will clash TONIGHT (Sat., March 7, 2026) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, for UFC 326<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It has been the better part of 11 years since Holloway and Oliveira first met inside UFC\u2019s Octagon (re-live that here<\/a>). At the time, Holloway was six fights deep into the win streak that would eventually see him capture Featherweight gold, whereas Oliveira had won four in a row to re-assert himself as a contender.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the bout ended in a freak injury<\/a> before it ever really got going (scary details here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Fortunately, a decade of marinating has only improved the matchup. Since the first bout, both have won undisputed titles and established themselves as two of the most fun, elite fighters in history. Both men are beloved by fans and fully trusted to bring the action on fight night. Quite simply, this bout has better odds (see them here<\/a>) of being a great fight than any other main event booked this year, and it\u2019s a must-watch affair for true fans of the sport.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a closer look at the betting odds and strategic keys for each athlete:<\/p>\n

Holloway is \u201cthe best boxer in UFC, baby<\/a>\u201d \u2026 debatably! The Hawaiian builds offense beautifully on the strength of his feints and always active lead hand. There have been so many different looks of Holloway\u2019s kickboxing over the years that it\u2019s difficult to summarize in a three sentence intro, as he\u2019s known to completely shift his style fight-to-fight.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, Holloway loves the spin kick. Other days, he\u2019s fighting Southpaw the entire time. Or, maybe Holloway will show up switch hitting and doubling up on body punches! \u201cBlessed\u201d has the variety and skill to do it all.<\/p>\n

The real standout attribute of Holloway at 155 pounds is hand speed. In his recent wins over Justin Gaethje (see it<\/a>) and Dustin Poirier, Holloway could simply turn it up with his combinations in a way they couldn\u2019t match. Unlike his Featherweight run, he\u2019s sitting his foes down much more often, meaning Holloway doesn\u2019t have to rely so heavily on volume and put himself in as much risk.<\/p>\n

On paper, Holloway has the defensive wrestling and boxing to take apart Oliveira\u2019s Muay Thai. Like Ilia Topuria did last year, that involves jabbing Oliveira, countering his kicks, and allowing him to walk into big punches. Holloway has the evasive footwork to make Oliveira miss and eventually make him pay, and the Hawaiian should aim to extend combinations when possible.<\/p>\n

Oliveira is one of the greatest finishers in UFC history<\/a>. A ferocious puncher with elite offensive jiu-jitsu, Oliveira has an absurd amount of tools at his disposal. Flying front kicks, jumping guillotines, a unique anaconda choke variation, crisp power punches \u2014 \u201cDo Bronx\u201d can do it all.<\/p>\n

Oliveira has to mix it up here, because a boxing match with Holloway just doesn\u2019t favor him. He was way too willing to enter the pocket against Topuria, and that aggression\/overconfidence cost him majorly. Hopefully, the lesson was learned, because Oliveira will be removed from the title mix entirely with another defeat here.<\/p>\n

While on the front foot, I\u2019d like to see Oliveira working to disrupt Holloway\u2019s boxing with his front and low kicks. We know Holloway\u2019s leg is vulnerable to low kicks, and Oliveira should be touching that calf whenever possible. If he\u2019s mixing in a lot of other kicking techniques, it\u2019ll be harder for Holloway to defend and counter the low kick. In addition, Oliveira should be trying to cut boxing exchanges short. He could do that by crashing forward with an elbow \u2014 one of his better ideas against Topuria \u2014 or looking to latch onto the double-collar tie, which would enable Oliveira\u2019s physical strength to become more of a factor.<\/p>\n

Generally, it\u2019s hard to see Oliveira winning this fight without landing at least a couple takedowns. His best shot is to get Holloway punching and duck onto the waist, where Oliveira is very strong with his body lock takedowns. If he\u2019s hitting Holloway with kicks, elbows and combinations before the takedown comes suddenly, his odds of getting the fight to floor skyrocket.<\/p>\n

Holloway vs. Oliveira Prediction<\/p>\n

The elephant in the room when talking about these legends is wear-and-tear<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Both men have been in countless wars over the years and taken a ton of shots. Even their victories were often hard-earned! It feels fair to say that despite both men still being Top 5<\/a>-ranked contenders, they\u2019re no longer in their physical primes. However, it also feels somewhat clear that Oliveira is a bit more shopworn and seems to have declined more than his opponent.<\/p>\n

Holloway\u2019s speed is still there. Against a slightly slower Oliveira, he\u2019s going to have the vision to time big connections and force Oliveira to either back off or walk into something massive. Knowing Oliveira\u2019s fighting style, the Brazilian\u2019s choice is almost guaranteed.<\/p>\n
