This Canadian man decided to sleep inside his Tesla<\/a> Model 3 in extreme cold -26\u00b0F weather, and what happened next left him surprised.<\/p>\n

Mason and his wife wanted to put their EV to the test, but not by taking it out onto the road.<\/p>\n

Instead, they wanted to see if it would remain comfortable and sustainable in extreme weather conditions while remaining stationary.<\/p>\n

Admittedly, sleeping in a car in cold weather doesn\u2019t sound like a lot of fun \u2013 but what would they discover about their Model 3 along the way?<\/p>\n

Camping out in a Tesla Model 3 in -26\u00b0F weather \u2013 what happened next?<\/p>\n

YouTuber FrozenTesla wanted to camp out in his Tesla for 9.5 hours.<\/p>\n

Using Camp Mode, he wanted to see if the battery would last through the night or if he and his wife would be forced to abandon the camping.<\/p>\n

When they arrived at the site at 11:33pm, they had 73 percent remaining.<\/p>\n

Fast forward nine hours, and it was time for the moment of truth \u2013 how had the car held up?<\/p>\n

Surprisingly well, with a decrease of 38 percent.<\/p>\n

That left the car with 35 percent when they woke up in the morning.<\/p>\n

And despite the cold, the front of the cabin remained fairly warm, although the same couldn\u2019t be said for the trunk where Mason and his wife had their feet.<\/p>\n

Through the night, the car actively worked to keep the battery temperature just above freezing.<\/p>\n

This experiment demonstrated that you can get by in extreme cold with your Tesla Model 3 \u2013 provided it\u2019s got at least 50 to 60 percent charge on it.<\/p>\n

Similarly, positive results were found when one YouTuber camped out in his Model X.<\/a><\/p>\n

Believe it or not, this isn\u2019t the first time that someone has camped out in their Tesla.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s just something about this set-up that entices owners.<\/p>\n

Perhaps they want to see if their shiny new EV is up to the task of doubling as a camper?<\/p>\n

For one man, he compared his Cybertruck directly to an electric RV<\/a> to see which was superior.<\/p>\n

One couple even honeymooned in their Model Y <\/a>as they drove it across Europe.<\/p>\n
