Police continue to find illegal guns, and last night, another was found by a Peel elite tactical unit.<\/p>\n

Information released indicates that the Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing (STEP) team located a loaded firearm and arrested three men following a traffic stop in Mississauga just after 10 p.m. in the area of Bristol Road West and Creditview Road.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the 36th\u00a0illegal firearm the STEP team has seized in the last 11 months.<\/p>\n

During the stop, the occupants were told to get out of the vehicle, and one of them ran off.<\/p>\n

A brief foot chase ensued and eventually the man was caught.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the search of the accused, a loaded illegal handgun and a magazine containing ammunition were located,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n

As a result, three people were arrested:<\/p>\n

Malik Laroche, 18, from Brampton
\nJedidiah Henry, 19, from Brampton
\nDavid Eze, 22, of Mississauga<\/p>\n

They were all charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, among several other charges.<\/p>\n

Last night was no different,\u201d said Peel Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah. \u201cThanks to our STEP team officers for keeping illegal firearms out of the hands of violent criminals and making our community a safer place for all.\u201d<\/p>\n
