The Phoenix Raceway doubleheader this weekend with IndyCar and NASCAR in town brings an atmosphere that is \u201clight and festive at this track nestled in the desert landscape\u201d and Fox Sports is \u201cthrilled with the doubleheader.\u201d The pairing is \u201cpartly the vision\u201d of Fox Sports CEO Eric Shanks. When Fox took over as IndyCar\u2019s broadcast partner last year, Shanks \u201coften stacked the races back-to-back with NASCAR to pull in as many eyeballs as possible.\u201d It is a \u201clogical sentiment and apparently working.\u201d IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden said, \u201cI wish we had more weekends together. I just don\u2019t see how us being together is ever a bad thing\u201d (AP, 3\/6<\/a>). Phoenix Raceway President Latasha Causey said that big crowds are \u201cexpected both days.\u201d She said, \u201cOur ticket sales are up 100% year-over-year for Saturday\u2019s race\u201d (AZFAMILY.com, 3\/6<\/a>). <\/p>\n

It \u201clooked like there were more fans in the grandstands\u201d at Saturday\u2019s Good Ranchers 250 than \u201cat the last three IndyCar visits combined.\u201d Leaving the race in 2026, the \u201coverwhelming memory will be of an instant classic produced by IndyCar drivers old and new.\u201d Newgarden said of wanting more crossovers with NASCAR, \u201cBoth should complement each other. If you\u2019re a motorsport fan, you\u2019re just getting way more value for your weekend to have the top two motorsport championships together on the same weekend. I don\u2019t see why we can\u2019t do a little more of this. I think it\u2019s good for everybody.\u201d He added, \u201cVery fun to see the crowd\u201d (RACER, 3\/7<\/a>).<\/p>\n
