Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for parts of south and central Vancouver Island, with up to five centimetres possible Monday morning.<\/p>\n

The warning<\/a>, issued at 8 a.m., covers Greater Victoria, the Malahat Highway, eastern Vancouver Island from Duncan to Nanaimo, inland areas south of Port Alberni, and parts of the west coast from Jordan River to Sooke.<\/p>\n

Forecasters say heavy convective flurries moving through the region could produce quick bursts of snowfall during the morning hours.<\/p>\n

Environment Canada warns the snowfall may significantly impact the morning commute, with reduced visibility and rapidly changing road conditions possible.<\/p>\n

Drivers are being urged to allow extra time for travel and be prepared for deteriorating road conditions.<\/p>\n

Snowfall warnings are issued when weather conditions are expected to create hazardous driving conditions due to accumulating snow.<\/p>\n

Environment Canada says conditions should be monitored throughout the morning as flurries move across the region.<\/p>\n
