Officers\u00a0with the Peel Regional Police Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing (STEP) team have arrested three men and seized a loaded handgun\u00a0following a traffic stop in Mississauga<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Police said in a news release<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0the incident happened on March 6 at about 10:15 p.m. near Bristol Road West and\u00a0Creditview\u00a0Road, when police stopped a vehicle and\u00a0observed\u00a0occupants violating the Cannabis Control Act.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During the investigation, the occupants were asked to exit the vehicle for a search. One suspect\u00a0allegedly\u00a0fled on foot but was quickly arrested after a brief pursuit. Police say officers then recovered a\u00a0loaded illegal handgun and a magazine\u00a0containing\u00a0ammunition.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The following individuals were arrested and charged:\u00a0<\/p>\n

Malik Laroche, 18, of Brampton\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jedidiah Henry, 19, of Brampton\u00a0<\/p>\n

David Eze, 22, of Mississauga\u00a0<\/p>\n

All three face multiple firearm-related charges, including\u00a0unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number. Eze also faces an\u00a0additional\u00a0charge for having cannabis readily available in a vehicle.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Police say the seizure marks the\u00a036th illegal firearm recovered by the STEP team in the past 11 months.\u00a0<\/p>\n
