Toronto police have identified a man accused of causing a fatal collision in North York last week, after a light pole was struck and fell on a pedestrian. <\/p>\n

Toronto police have identified a man accused of causing a fatal collision in North York last week, after a light pole was struck and fell on a pedestrian.<\/p>\n

Police said on Mar. 6<\/a>, just before 6:45 p.m., a 19-year-old woman was driving a Volkswagen Tiguan eastbound on Steeles Avenue West at the same time a male driving an Acura MDX was travelling westbound on the same street.<\/p>\n

The Volkswagen attempted to make a left turn at Gerry Fitzgerald Drive, police said, when the Acura allegedly \u201cdisobeyed a traffic signal,\u201d causing a collision in the intersection.<\/p>\n

The Acura then lost control and struck a utility pole, which then fell onto a 62-year-old male pedestrian.<\/p>\n

The driver of the Acura abandoned the car and fled on foot. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

On Monday, police identified<\/a> Walter Omar Montes De Oca Munoz, 32, of King City, as the driver.<\/p>\n

He is wanted for failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing death and dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death.<\/p>\n

He is described at five-foot-seven with a muscular build and dark brown hair.<\/p>\n
