The Independent member for Humber-Bay of Islands has paid tribute to a young Corner Brook\u00a0man who recently made a big difference for children in far-off Uganda.<\/p>\n

Eddie Joyce travels to the African nation every year as part of charity work he does with the APEX Impact Foundation.<\/p>\n

Joyce\u00a0told the House of Assembly last week that\u00a0Allister MacDonnell heard about the work he was doing in Africa, and knowing how important soccer equipment was to the young people there, decided he\u00a0wanted to help.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn his own initiative, Allister approached the Corner Brook United Soccer Club, the Paradise Soccer Club, \u00a0the St. John\u2019s Soccer Club, and the NL Soccer Association about what he wanted to do. \u00a0Over 350 full sets of soccer uniforms were donated.\u00a0 Many with the price tags on it, valued over $10,000.\u201d<\/p>\n

He says the\u00a0gift was accepted with\u00a0excitement by the children in Uganda and he commended MacDonnell for his efforts.<\/p>\n
