{"id":525168,"date":"2026-03-09T19:37:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T19:37:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/525168\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T19:37:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T19:37:08","slug":"former-tv-host-says-he-was-told-he-had-18-months-to-live","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/525168\/","title":{"rendered":"Former TV host says he was told he had 18 months to live"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">John Tesh has outlived his prognosis by nearly eight years after doctors told him in 2015 he had only 18 months to live, <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/03\/08\/celebrity-news\/et-alum-john-tesh-details-10-year-battle-with-rare-cancer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Page Six;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Page Six<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The former \u201cEntertainment Tonight\u201d co-host told reporters in a recent interview that he continues to battle a rare form of metastatic prostate cancer through an unconventional treatment approach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI\u2019ve been fighting cancer successfully, still fighting it. It\u2019s still under treatment, on and off,\u201d Tesh said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">His medical team at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston uses a \u201cpulsing\u201d method that alternates between active treatment and allowing the cancer to grow slightly before resuming therapy, he added. Tesh is considered stable rather than in remission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThey will let it grow for a little bit, and then get me back on treatment, back and forth,\u201d Tesh explained. \u201cIt\u2019s scary until you get used to it because it\u2019s like, \u2018why am I living with cancer?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Tesh attributed his survival to three factors: his medical team, his wife of 34 years Connie Sellecca, and his Christian faith.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWithout my wife Connie, who has been my advocate over the years, I wouldn\u2019t be talking,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019d be dead. I would have been dead in 2015.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The 72-year-old said biblical passages about healing have been significant to his journey, particularly Mark 11:23, which he has tattooed on his arm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Tesh left television hosting in 1996 to pursue music full time.
