{"id":525415,"date":"2026-03-09T22:10:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T22:10:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/525415\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T22:10:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T22:10:14","slug":"putting-harmful-dust-into-the-air-can-now-bring-305-fine-in-mississauga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/525415\/","title":{"rendered":"Putting harmful dust into the air can now bring $305 fine in Mississauga"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new $305 fine that can be slapped on those who create too much airborne dust during home construction activity is now on the books in Mississauga.<\/p>\n<p>The fine, part of a plan to strengthen City of Mississauga bylaws that deal with debris and litter as they relate to air quality, took effect on March 2.<\/p>\n<p>Mississauga Ward 1 Coun. Stephen Dasko, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insauga.com\/how-harmful-is-the-dust-in-the-air-and-what-will-mississauga-do-about-it\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">introduced a motion last September to beef up bylaws<\/a> dealing with dust caused by residential construction, said in December as a subsequent city staff recommendation was unanimously endorsed by councillors that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insauga.com\/305-fine-on-the-way-for-creating-too-much-harmful-airborne-dust-in-mississauga\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stronger rules have been \u201ca long time coming.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He added the new fine,\u00a0the same penalty issued by the City of Toronto to offenders there, \u201cis going to be a deterrent \u2026 and helpful for our bylaw officers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dasko said at the time the matter was first brought to his attention by residents whose home became \u201ccovered in this dust\u201d as concrete cutting and other work took place on a neighbouring property.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-777155\" class=\"wp-image-777155 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Coun-Stephen-Dasko-ward-1-dec-3-2025-general-committee.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1040\" height=\"727\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-777155\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ward 1 Coun.
