Chris Pronger has landed in Vancouver, and local hockey fans are already ready to hand him a role in Canucks management.<\/p>\n
The Hall of Fame defenceman isn\u2019t in town for a new job \u2014 he\u2019s working Amazon Prime Video\u2019s broadcast at Rogers Arena. But he asked for questions, and boy did he get some from Canucks fans.<\/p>\n

Hit me with some questions. #amazonprime<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Chris Pronger (@chrispronger) March 8, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n The answer that had a number of Canucks fans buzzing came in response to a question from someone wondering what Pronger\u2019s offseason priorities would be if he were general manager.<\/p>\n Pronger\u2019s answer was more inspiring than anything we\u2019ve heard from the current regime of late.<\/p>\n \u201cRebuild a winning culture,\u201d Pronger said. \u201cCanucks have not had that type of identity since early 2010s. Swagger and belief are important before the wins start to pile up. Development is going to be the most important part of their rebuild. [Unrestricted free agents] will be last pieces.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cRebuilds start with identifying specific players already in the organization to build with, if any. Drafting well is essential to not stalling the process and creating a culture to develop from within and then adding [free agents] when closer to window to win a championship.\u201d<\/p>\n Rebuild a winning culture. Patrik Allvin stumbled on a question<\/a> about the Canucks\u2019 \u201cculture problem\u201d back in December.<\/p>\n Three years ago, Kevin Bieksa delivered an inspiring speech in the Canucks dressing room<\/a>, with \u201cculture\u201d being at the forefront.<\/p>\n \u201cThe culture\u2019s got to change,\u201d Bieksa said in a later interview<\/a>. \u201cMy culture speech \u2014 that worked for my group and the people and the personalities in my dressing room. That\u2019s not necessarily going to be exactly the way this team\u2019s culture is going to be moving forward\u2026 They have to kind of develop their own, because their leaders are different.\u201d<\/p>\n That is the $92M question isn\u2019t it.<\/p>\n
