Tristan Jarry has not had the greatest start to his Edmonton Oilers tenure, and things have reportedly gotten a bit testy with his teammates lately.<\/p>\n

The battle for the Oilers\u2019 starting goaltender position has been a fierce one this season, with more than a few competitors. Stuart Skinner lost out on that battle in December, being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a>, and it was expected that Jarry would be able to come in and bring a sense of stability.<\/p>\n

That hasn\u2019t been the case, as the 30-year-old has struggled of late, losing three of his last four starts and posting a horrid .812 save percentage in the process. Now, it appears Connor Ingram has the inside edge to Edmonton\u2019s starting goalie moving forward.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not how it was supposed to go after the Skinner-Jarry trade, and, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, it may be causing some frustration between him and his Oilers teammates.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of talk out there about Jarry [getting] into it in practice with some of his teammates out there,\u201d Friedman said in the latest episode of 32 Thoughts<\/a>. \u201cIt looks to me like Jarry and the Oilers are having a challenge getting used to eachother.\u201d<\/p>\n

Friedman didn\u2019t get into specifics about what \u2018getting into it\u2019 with his teammates meant, but it does appear that some frustration is starting to boil over in Edmonton. The Oilers\u2019 goaltending has not been up to par this season, but the team\u2019s defence has also taken a bit of a nosedive.<\/p>\n

Those two things feed into each other and make everybody look worse, and it doesn\u2019t appear that Jarry will be getting the length of runway that Skinner was afforded before his departure.<\/p>\n

GM Stan Bowman gave the tandem a vote of confidence by not trading for a new goalie at the deadline and decided to focus on improving the defence in front of them. Though, according to Friedman, the idea of making another goalie trade was considered before the deadline.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Edmonton at least considered the idea,\u201d Friedman said. \u201cI think Edmonton at least considered the possibilities of \u2018What if we went out and got another goalie?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI just think they felt they would have to trade Jarry; they didn\u2019t think it was possible, and ultimately, they just passed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jarry will have to step up over this final stretch of the season and show that he is capable of helping this team win playoff games.<\/p>\n
