{"id":525712,"date":"2026-03-10T01:12:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-10T01:12:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/525712\/"},"modified":"2026-03-10T01:12:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T01:12:12","slug":"lane-closure-coming-for-downtown-riverwalk-flood-protection-in-brampton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/525712\/","title":{"rendered":"Lane closure coming for downtown Riverwalk flood protection in Brampton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A two-week-long lane closure is coming to downtown Brampton for work on the city\u2019s Riverwalk flood protection project.<\/p>\n<p>Early construction on Brampton\u2019s multi-million dollar Riverwalk revitalization project started last year, with protective fencing around the construction area, demolitions and removal of trees and vegetation.<\/p>\n<p>Construction is expected to stretch into the spring 2028, and will go into full swing this spring.<\/p>\n<p>And starting next week, one lane will be temporarily closed on Scott Street between Church Street and the Scott Street Bridge over Etobicoke Creek.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResidents should plan for extra travel time or consider alternative routes, where possible,\u201d the city said in a release.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insauga.com\/flood-protection-work-downtown-kicks-off-riverwalk-project-construction-in-brampton\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Flood protection work downtown kicks off Riverwalk project construction in Brampton<\/a><\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"vidyard-player-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1773097871_128_awZCW3rPmWvxPqZHnBCKLu.jpg\" data-videoid=\"790139\" data-uuid=\"awZCW3rPmWvxPqZHnBCKLu\" data-v=\"4\" data-type=\"inline\" data-muted=\"1\" style=\"width:100%\"\/>    <\/p>\n<p>        <img width=\"1024\" height=\"513\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Screenshot-2026-01-30-at-1.55.02-PM-1024x513.png\" class=\"attachment-large size-large\" alt=\"\"  decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>      <\/p>\n<p>Work is set to begin on a temporary alternate channel to safely reroute Etobicoke Creek while the enhanced flood protection channel is built.<\/p>\n<p>The city is also implementing environmental mitigation measures to protect local wildlife during construction, including installing bat boxes and creating alternative habitats to support species affected by early construction.
