Semiahmoo First Nation to buy Elements Casino Surrey<\/p>\n

Elements Casino Surrey is being sold.<\/p>\n
Great Canadian Entertainment (GCE) and the Se-mi-ah-mu Development Corporation (SDC) said they have agreed to terms on the sale and purchase of Elements Casino, located on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday\u2019s announcement marks the eighth agreement we have executed with B.C.-based First Nations for the sale of our B.C. operations,\u201d Matt Anfinson, CEO for Great Canadian, said in a press release. \u201cWe are thrilled that the Semiahmoo First Nation is eager to enter the province\u2019s casino sector with the purchase of Elements Casino Surrey.\u201d<\/p>\n
Anfinson said the next steps include working on several items to close the transaction.<\/p>\n
According to the release, GCE\u2019s board of directors approved the sale unanimously. The sale is still subject to financial commitments, customary closing conditions, and the regular approval process by both regulators and the City of Surrey. The city owns the land the casino sits on.<\/p>\n

SDC is the economic development arm of Semiahmoo First Nation.<\/p>\n
GCE has been selling off a lot of their Casinos. The company sold or has agreed to sell eight of its nine B.C. casinos over the last few years.<\/p>\n
Apollo Global Management and HPS Investment Partners purchased Great Canadian in 2021 for $3.3 billion.
