More than a dozen shots were fired at two homes and three vehicles in Brampton early Monday, leaving some residents rattled.<\/p>\n

The shooting happened on Spadina Road near Bovaird Drive W. and McLaughlin Road N., according to Peel Regional Police.<\/p>\n

Police said they believe a person in a car drove into the area at about 2:30 a.m., opened fire while still in the car, then left the area right after the shooting in a light-coloured four-door sedan. Officers received reports of the shooting at about 2:40 a.m.<\/p>\n

Both homes that were shot at were occupied at the time, but no one was injured by the gunfire.<\/p>\n

Const. Mandeep Khatra told reporters near the scene that the shots numbered in the “double digits.” He said investigators are seeking one suspect and one suspect vehicle.<\/p>\n

“Fortunately, nobody was hurt as a result of the shooting, but nonetheless, we take these incidents very seriously. It’s reckless, it’s not acceptable, and we’re going to keep working on this investigation until we get further leads,” Khatra said.<\/p>\n

Robert Thomas, a homeowner whose property was struck by bullets about 10 times, said the gunfire didn’t frighten him but it upset his wife. He said the gunshots woke him up at first. He doesn’t think his house was targeted. He has lived in the home since 2020.<\/p>\n

“I wasn’t scared. I’m used to it … I used to be a cop back home in another country,” Thomas said. <\/p>\n

“My wife right now, if I call her, she’s probably in tears. She’s very emotional. I don’t know what she’s thinking but she was very upset.”<\/p>\n

Thomas pointed out five bullet holes on his vehicle. He said there are four more on the garage door and one at the front door. A few of the bullets made their way into his home, puncturing the holes and shattering a piece of glass.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t do anything because I thought it was just gangs or whatever.”<\/p>\n

The shooting left others in the neighbourhood shaken. Two cars in a nearby visitor parking lot were also struck. <\/p>\n

Jorge Billamgua, a resident of a home about two doors down from Thomas, said he and his wife heard some noise at about 2:40 a.m. His home was struck twice. One bullet hit just below an upstairs window, while another hit near above the front door.<\/p>\n

“Really, we are very, very scared, emotionally. Now we think, what happened? What’s the next step here?”<\/p>\n

Khatra, for his part, said it’s unclear what led to the shooting.<\/p>\n

“We’re looking at all different avenues. Right now, it’s unknown what exactly led to this incident. But based on what’s happened so far, it appears to be an isolated incident.”<\/p>\n
