Every year, paint brands deluge us with their colors of the year\u2014colors inspired by fashion, auto, culinary, pop culture, and of course, design trends. But if you don’t feel like whipping out your roller and paint brush<\/a> every year or two and would rather stick with something classic and timeless you can keep on your walls for a long time, we understand.\n<\/p>\n We asked interior designers for the most timeless paint colors, and they gave us seven great shades to choose from.\n<\/p>\n Black <\/p>\n Credit: <\/p>\n Light and Dwell<\/a><\/p>\n Black is one of the most timeless colors used in interior design, and paint is no exception, especially for doors and trim. (A wall drenched in black is also great, especially making artwork pop.)\u00a0\n<\/p>\n Designer Chasity Centeno, owner of Riese Design, says her favorite black paint for millwork is Sherwin-Williams’ Tricorn Black.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a perfect black that has virtually no undertones,\u201d she explains. \u201cIt\u2019s consistently rich and deep, creating drama and beautiful accents.\u201d\n<\/p>\n Cream <\/p>\n Credit: <\/p>\n House Nine Design Studio<\/a><\/p>\n Both designers we tapped like creams and off-whites for creating a timeless space.\n<\/p>\n Candis Stratton, the owner and principal designer at Stratton Interiors, prefers Benjamin Moore\u2019s Natural Cream <\/a>for when she needs a \u201cgreat neutral paint\u2026it goes with everything,\u201d she says.\n<\/p>\n Centeno prefers Benjamin Moore\u2019s White Dove<\/a>, a soft and creamy white that sits comfortably between white and yellow.\n<\/p>\n Off-White <\/p>\n Credit: <\/p>\n Desiree Burns Interiors<\/a><\/p>\n As for off-whites (closer to white than yellow), Centeno recommends Sherwin-Williams’ Alabaster<\/a> because she says it can go with any style, from rustic to modern to traditional. She says likes the paint color’s warm undertone.\n<\/p>\n Navy <\/p>\n Centeno says navy\u2014especially Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy, her go-to\u2014is a timeless classic. (It’s true in both fashion and interiors.)\n<\/p>\n “You can use this as an accent color, or you can use it to create drama and color drench a room,\u201d Centeno says.\n<\/p>\n Dark Green <\/p>\n Credit: <\/p>\n Light and Dwell<\/a><\/p>\n The designers also say dark, earthy greens are timeless.\n<\/p>\n Centeno likes Benjamin Moore\u2019s Cushing Green,<\/a> in particular, and says it shines on its own or pairs beautifully with other earth tones.\n<\/p>\n \u201cGrays, beiges, or saddle browns will complement this color, making any room feel cozy, warm, and organic enough to marry the exterior with the interior,\u201d she says.\n<\/p>\n Gray <\/p>\n Gray is a color that evokes peace and calm, ideal for a bedroom or living room.\n<\/p>\n Stratton likes Sherwin-William\u2019s Drift of Mist<\/a> and calls the shade a \u201ctrue chameleon, a classic that goes with everything and changes depending on the light in your room.\u201d\n<\/p>\n Sand <\/p>\n Credit: <\/p>\n
