Friedman: \u2018Lots of talk\u2019 of Oilers\u2019 Jarry and teammates \u2018getting into it\u2019 at practice last week<\/p>\n
On Monday morning\u2019s edition of his latest 32 Thoughts podcast<\/a>, Sportsnet\u2019s Elliotte Friedman alluded to it when discussing the Oilers.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of talk out there about Jarry got into it in practice with some of his teammates out there. It\u2019s been a hard year for the Oilers,\u201d said Friedman, who didn\u2019t dig into the situation any further, but commented on a growing frustration around the team\u2019s inconsistent play.<\/p>\n \u201cYou reach the point where the fun goes away, and it\u2019s like we\u2019re banging our head against the ceiling, and we\u2019re trying to break through. Edmonton, there\u2019s only one place to go. They\u2019ve been in the Final twice in a row, and that\u2019s where I think things get really hard on you, because success is only measured in one way, and losing is painful. And I think a lot of the challenges for the Oilers, I think kind of run through that,\u201d said Friedman.<\/p>\n Jarry started Friday\u2019s game against the Hurricanes in a 6-3 loss, allowing five goals on 31 shots, but rebounding after a tough start.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s some extraneous things that have me quite concerned with Tristan\u2026I can read between the lines of what was going on the ice yesterday in practice. There seemed to be some [expletives] flying. I didn\u2019t like that Jarry, when the Oilers lost 7-3 to Minnesota, talked about how the team is playing defensively in front of him,\u201d said Stauffer.<\/p>\n \u201cI watched him yesterday in practice, and he was getting beat in practice, and finally one of the leaders, you could see him [say], \u2018You\u2019ve got to push it more.\u2019 And it\u2019s both goalies. And that\u2019s concerning.\u201d<\/p>\n Ingram got the start against the Vegas Golden Knights and provided 24 saves on 26 shots, while earning his third win in his last four games.<\/p>\n Oilersnation\u2019s Jason Gregor also talked about Jarry in practice last week.<\/p>\n \u201cI watched practice yesterday, and I know it\u2019s only practice, but I was watching drill after drill and Jarry was getting lit up in practice. I haven\u2019t seen a goalie give up that many goals for awhile,\u201d said Gregor, during his show<\/a> on Sports 1440.Jarry will likely get back in the net soon, as the team plays three games in four nights on the road this week<\/a>. The Oilers visit the Presidents\u2019 Trophy favourite Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday, then face the NHL\u2019s second-best team overall in the Dallas Stars on Thursday.
