{"id":528048,"date":"2026-03-11T01:37:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T01:37:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/528048\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T01:37:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T01:37:14","slug":"michele-kang-wins-ioc-gender-equality-award-for-advancing-womens-soccer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/528048\/","title":{"rendered":"Michele Kang Wins IOC Gender Equality Award for Advancing Women\u2019s Soccer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Women\u2019s soccer club owner Michele Kang won a gender equality award from the International Olympic Committee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kang, who owns French powerhouse OL Lyonnes, Washington Spirit in the United States and London City Lionesses in England, was named the European regional winner in the IOC\u2019s Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Champions Awards on Monday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Olympic body\u2019s citation said the American businesswoman \u201chas championed a vision of sustainable, independent women\u2019s sport built on the principle that equal means equal results.\u2019\u201d\u00a0 \u201cKang is strengthening the women\u2019s football ecosystem and advancing gender equality, representation and professional standards across the sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The global winner of the IOC\u2019s annual awards was Abhijit Bhattacharya, the former captain of India\u2019s men\u2019s volleyball team, who created a 400-team community league in rural Assam.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bhattacharya, the IOC said, \u201cpartnered with UNICEF to deliver sport-based programs addressing adolescent leadership, gender equality, girls\u2019 education and broader social development outcomes in rural communities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Women\u2019s soccer club owner Michele Kang won a gender equality award from the International Olympic Committee.
