One of Hollywood North<\/a>\u2018s most memorable shows is getting a revival, and Vancouver fans of The X-Files may soon get to see the production up close.<\/p>\n

Several online sources, including entertainment news site NexusPointNews<\/a>, have confirmed that the popular sci-fi franchise will begin filming a pilot for its Hulu reboot in Metro Vancouver starting this May.<\/p>\n

Helming the project is\u00a0Sinners and\u00a0Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, who was attached to the project as early as 2023.<\/p>\n

However, there is no word yet on whether original stars David Duchovny or Gillian Anderson will be back for another go-round as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.<\/p>\n

The X-Files<\/p>\n

The X-Files was created by Christ Carter, and first ran from 1993 to 2002.<\/p>\n

The first five seasons were filmed in Vancouver before the show infamously moved to Los Angeles to shoot its next four.<\/p>\n

Iconic Vancouver locations that were used in the original series include the Grouse Mountain gondola, The Shipyards, Riverview Hospital, and Pacific Central Station.<\/p>\n

The X-Files\u00a0returned to Vancouver in 2015 and 2017 to film its long-awaited 10th and 11th seasons. Duchovny and Anderson reprised their lead roles alongside Mitch Pileggi as Walter Skinner.<\/p>\n

Other big names making guest appearances in the final two seasons include Joel McHale, Kumail Nanjiani, and Rhys Darby.<\/p>\n

So far, Danielle Deadwyler (The Harder They Fall, Till) is the only announced cast member of The X-Files revival, taking on the role of an FBI special agent.<\/p>\n

The official description of the Hulu show is, \u201cTwo highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.\u201d<\/p>\n

So it\u2019s looking like the new X-Files won\u2019t stray far from the formula that made the original so great.<\/p>\n

Hollywood North is bustling as several huge TV and movie productions are coming to Vancouver this spring<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This includes the new season of The Last of Us, scheduled to film until this November around the region.<\/p>\n
