Peel Regional Police say<\/a> a 17-year-old from Brampton is facing\u00a0numerous\u00a0charges after two separate ride-share carjackings at gunpoint earlier this month.\u00a0<\/p>\nInvestigators with the Central Robbery Bureau allege the first incident happened on Sunday, March 1, at about 7:50 p.m.,\u00a0in the area of\u00a0Cedar Lake Crescent. Police say a suspect posing as a customer entered a ride-share vehicle while wearing a face covering, pulled out a handgun and ordered the driver out of the car before fleeing in the vehicle.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A second carjacking occurred the following night, Monday, March 2, around 11:05 p.m., near Salisbury Circle. Police say another ride-share driver was robbed at gunpoint shortly after picking up a passenger, with the suspect again making off in the victim\u2019s vehicle.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Patrol officers from 22 Division later\u00a0located\u00a0the second stolen vehicle nearby. Investigators say the suspect fled on foot and discarded a loaded firearm before being arrested a short distance away. The firearm was recovered by\u00a0police.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Following the investigation, officers linked the same suspect to both incidents. The 17-year-old Brampton youth has been charged with multiple offences, including robbery, disguise with intent, possession of property obtained by crime, pointing a firearm, and several firearms-related offences, as well as\u00a0failing to comply\u00a0with court-ordered conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The accused was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused cannot be released.\u00a0<\/p>\n
