Region of Peel \u2013 Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau have arrested and charged a young person in connection with two separate ride-share carjackings in Brampton.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, March 1, at approximately 7:50 p.m., a ride-share driver was robbed at gunpoint in the area of Cedar Lake Crescent. The suspect, posing as a customer and wearing a face covering, pulled out a handgun and demanded that the victim get out of the vehicle before fleeing in it.<\/p>\n
On Monday, March 2, at approximately 11:05 p.m., a second ride-share driver was robbed at gunpoint in the area of Salisbury Circle after picking up a passenger. The suspect again fled in the victim\u2019s vehicle.<\/p>\n
Patrol officers from 22 Division quickly located the second stolen vehicle nearby. The suspect fled on foot, discarded a loaded firearm, and was arrested a short distance away. The firearm was recovered by police.<\/p>\n
As a result, investigators identified the suspect in both incidents as a 17-year-old from Brampton, who has been charged with the following offences:<\/p>\n

The accused was held for a bail hearing and attended The Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.<\/p>\n
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.<\/p>\n
