They learned this from officials at 7 pm<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Maria Torres (@maria_torres3) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/maria_torres3\/status\/2031575204715991440?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March 11, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Berrios was one of several Puerto Rican players initially unable to participate in the World Baseball Classic due to insurance issues, but was expected to join his country after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7105728\/2026\/03\/10\/blue-jays-jose-berrios-cleared-to-join-team-puerto-rico-in-wbc-knockout-stage\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7105728\/2026\/03\/10\/blue-jays-jose-berrios-cleared-to-join-team-puerto-rico-in-wbc-knockout-stage\/\">manager Yadier Molina said<\/a> the 31-year-old starter received clearance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Berrios has pitched for Puerto Rico in the last three WBC tournaments and heads into his 11th big league season and sixth with the Blue Jays. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He finished 2025 with a record of 9-5 in 31 outings with an earned run average of 4.17 and 1.301 WHIP over 166.0 innings pitched.
